NEW ORLEANS (AP) 鈥?A big comeback. A blown call. And https://www.thesaintslockerroom.com/authentic-tre_quan-smith-jersey , finally, a booming kick that sent the Los Angeles Rams to the Super Bowl. After rallying from an early 13-0 deficit, the Rams stunned the New Orleans Saints with Greg Zuerlein‘s 57-yard field goal in overtime for a 26-23 victory in the NFC championship game Sunday 鈥?an outcome that might not have been possible without an egregious mistake by the officials in the closing minutes of regulation.Los Angeles cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman committed聽a blatant interference penalty聽with a helmet-to-helmet hit on Tommylee Lewis well before the pass arrived inside the 5, forcing the Saints to settle for Wil Lutz‘s 31-yard field goal that made it 23-20 with 1:41 left in regulation."Came to the sideline, looked at the football gods and was like, ‘Thank you,'" Robey-Coleman said. "I got away with one tonight."After the no-call, Jared Goff had enough time to lead the Rams down the field for Zuerlein's tying field goal,聽a 48-yarder聽with 15 seconds remaining.New Orleans won the coin toss and got the ball first in overtime. But, with Dante Fowler Jr. in his face and striking his arm, Drew Brees fluttered up a pass that was picked off by John Johnson III, who was able to聽hang on to the interception聽while stumbling backward. Johnson hopped up and celebrated by doing with the "Choppa Style" dance popularized by New Orleans rapper Choppa, whose namesake song had become a Saints' rallying cry and was even performed during the halftime show. The Rams weren't able to do much offensively, but it didn't matter. Zuerlein聽booted through the winning field goal聽from just inside midfield with plenty of room to spare. The NFL said it the longest game-winning kick in playoff history."It's unbelievable, man. I can't put it into words Drew Brees Jersey White ," said Goff, who at 24 became the youngest quarterback to win an NFC title. "The defense played the way they did to force it to overtime. The defense gets a pick and Greg makes a 57-yarder to win it. That was good from about 70. Unbelievable."The Superdome, which had been in uproar all afternoon, suddenly turned eerily silent. It was the first home playoff loss for the Saints with Brees and coach Sean Payton, who and been 6-0 in those games since their pairing began in 2006.This one really hurt.If the pass interference penalty had been called, the Saints could've run most of the time off the clock to set up a winning field goal from chip-shot range."Being that it happened right there in front of the person who would be the one to make the call, and everyone in the stands saw it, everyone watching at home on TV saw it, that makes it even more difficult to take," Brees said. "Because of this, I'm sure there will be a lot of talk about reviewing penalties, perhaps game-changing penalties."The Rams (15-3) and their 32-year-old coach, Sean McVay, capped聽a remarkable risesince moving back to Los Angeles three years ago. The team will be appearing in its first Super Bowl since the 2001 season, when the "Greatest Show on Turf" was still in St. Louis. The team hasn't won an NFL title in Los Angeles since 1951 Marcus Davenport Jersey White , well before the Super Bowl era. The team moved to St. Louis in 1995, only to return to Southern California two decades later."Shoot, I don't even know what day it is," McVay said. "All I know is we're NFC champs, baby!"It was another bitter end for the Saints, who lost the previous season in the divisional round on the "Minnesota Miracle" 鈥?the Vikings' long touchdown pass on the final play of the game. This time, New Orleans (14-4) couldn't hang on to the lead or overcome that officiating mistake.Payton said he talked to the NFL office after the game and was told that Robey-Coleman should have been flagged."Not only was it interference, it was helmet to helmet," the coach said. ""I don't know if there was ever a more obvious pass interference."The Saints were on the verge of blowing out the Rams, scoring on their first three possessions and taking advantage of an interception when Todd Gurley let a pass slip through his hands. Then a fake punt early in the second quarter gave Los Angeles its initial first down of the game. Sparked by that gutsy call, the Rams finally came to life offensively and drove into position for the first of four field goals by Zuerlein.Gurley made it 13-10 at halftime on a 6-yard touchdown run just before the intermission.New Orleans restored its double-digit lead on Brees' 2-yard scoring pass to third-string quarterback Taysom Hill, the first TD catch of the super sub's career. Goff countered with a 1-yard touchdown toss to Tyler Higbee, setting up a wild fourth quarter.Zuerlein tied the score at 20-all with a 24-yard field goal after McVay passed on a shot at the go-ahead touchdown with fourth-and-goal from inside the 1. A delay of game while lining up for the kick scuttled any thoughts of leaving the offense on the field.BREES' FUTUREThe 40-year-old Brees made it clear he's got no plans to retire."I plan on being here next year and making another run at it," said Brees, who was denied a shot at adding to the Super Bowl title he won during the 2009 season. He hopes another gut-wrenching loss in the playoffs will spur the team to even greater heights."Last year really brought us together as a team and strengthened us Womens Marcus Davenport Jersey ," Brees said. "I hope this will too."INJURY REPORTThe Saints lost tight end Josh Hill to a concussion in the first quarter.Hill was injured after hauling in a 24-yard pass from Brees. While making the tackle, Los Angeles Rams linebacker Cory Littleton delivered a forearm to Hill's head.No penalty was called, but Hill staggered off the field to be evaluated by the medical staff. Just before halftime, the Saints announced he was done for the game. The loss of Hill led to a much bigger role in the offense for Garrett Griffin, who spent most of the season on the practice squad. He caught a 5-yard pass for his first career touchdown.UP NEXTThe Rams head to Atlanta in about a week for the Feb. 3 Super Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. They will face either the Kansas City Chiefs or the New England Patriots, who met Sunday night for the AFC title. The New Orleans Saints kicked off their 2019 preseason campaign at home on Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately, it didn’t result in a victory, as the team lost 35-24 despite coming back. For the Saints defense, all regular starters took the first snap minus Cameron Jordan. It didn’t really matter, as the Vikings were able to walk the distance of the field thanks to some excellent plays from Kirk Cousins. Minnesota looked to have a touchdown after Cousins found Adam Thielen on a go route with Eli Apple in coverage, but further review indicated he was down at the 1-yard line. The very next play saw the Vikings take it in to take a 7-0 lead.New Orleans piloted a nice drive courtesy of Teddy Bridgewater, who got the start in place of Drew Brees, as he was nearly perfect. He was 6-of-6 for 43 yards prior to an end zone incompletion to Michael Thomas, and both Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray were featured heavily on the opening drive. Wil Lutz came in to put the first points of the 2019 preseason on the board to cut the Vikings lead to 7-3.The Saints defense was able to respond by forcing a three-and-out against backup quarterback Sean Mannion, and things went back to Bridgewater for another drive. Things started off strong Tre'Quan Smith Jersey White , and the Saints were able to extend the drive some thanks to some defensive holding penalties on the Vikings. However, Bridgewater and company had a sloppy back half of the series that didn’t take them anywhere. Luckily, Wil Lutz was able to add a 52-yard field goal to make it 7-6 Vikings with 9:58 left in the first half. The Vikings quickly countered, going 76 yards in 7 plays in just 3:51 to get another touchdown on the board and take a 14-6 lead. The Saints defenders had quite a few issues with footing, and it’s never a good sign when you see Trey Hendrickson hustling downfield to make a tackle after a 34-yard screen play. The Saints looked to go down even more after trading a possession over to the Vikings, but an ill-advised Ameer Abdullah fumble that was recovered by Vince Biegel gave Bridgewater a chance to work in the two-minute drill. This time, they’d cash in as Bridgewater would pilot a 6-play, 64-yard drive to give the Saints their first touchdown of the preseason courtesy of a Bridgewater-Dan Arnold 18-yard hookup. The big play came from Cyril Grayson Jr., who Bridgewater found on the first play of the drive for a big pass play. Jacquizz Rodgers missed an easy chance to tie the game on the ensuing two-point attempt. Bridgewater finished the night going 14-of-19 for 134 yards and a touchdown (110.4 rating). The New Orleans defense was able to close out the half, and the start of the third quarter saw Taysom Hill step in. Hill started things off fine, but Darn Arnold coughed up a wouldbe reception that led to a Nate Meadors pick-six that put the Vikings up 21-12. Hill would shake that off and come back with an 11-play, 68-yard drive that stalled out and gave Lutz another opportunity to convert an easy 26-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 21-15.Minnesota would counter via a Kyle Sloter drive that went 72 yards in 6 plays, which also had a defensive pass interference call on Kayvon Webster that Sean Payton challenged. It didn’t go his way, and shortly thereafter, Sloter found Khari Blasingame for an easy score from two yards out to put the Vikings ahead by two scores at 27-15 (two-point attempt failed).Cyril Grayson Jr. would get a crack at kick returning duties after Deonte Harris had a stellar showing in his debut. The Saints would make things interesting on the drive Womens Alvin Kamara Jersey , but as it went most of the night, penalties pushed them back and ended up killing off good drives. Lutz was once again on target, this time from 42 yards out to cut the Vikings lead to 27-18.The Saints would put together an impressive 5-play, 83-yard drive to cut the deficit to 27-25 after what looked to be a disaster after a bad Travin Dural drop. Devin Ozigbo looked good on the drive, and after a defensive pass interference call involving Travin Dural, Lil’Jordan Humphrey would score on a 33-yard catch and run thanks to a great individual effort. It was short-lived however, as Mike Boone would score on a 64-yard rushing play to put the Vikings up 34-25 with 7:09 to go.Taysom Hill and company couldn’t counter on the ensuing possession, and the Vikings would drain the clock to preserve a 34-25 win. The Saints look ahead to next week’s primetime showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers, which will be nationally televised on CBS next Sunday (3:00 p.m. CT start time).
It’s hard to criticize Jerry Jones these days."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Dallas Cowboys NewsDallas Cowboys GeneralStability at the top has become a Cowboys strengthNew Womens Michael Gallup Jersey ,117commentsIt’s hard to criticize Jerry Jones these days.CDTShareTweetShareShareStability at the top has become a Cowboys strengthAdd Will McClay, and you have reasons for hope for Dallas’ future.Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsOnce upon a time, the NFL world tended to laugh at Jerry Jones. He is always colorful and frequently throws his weight around as one of the most influential owners in the league, but the humor was mostly directed at him also taking the job of general manager of his team. He was seen as being in over his head and frequently blundering in coaching hires and roster building. That laughter has pretty much died down, except among a few curmudgeons who focus more on the past than what is going on now. Jones made more than his share of missteps, but since he didn’t have to worry about being fired, he was able to grow into his job. Now, the Cowboys are looking suspiciously like a well run team with an exciting future. This comes to mind as a couple of the new targets for derision have filled the headlines with some strange decisions of late. Specifically, the two teams from New York/New Jersey have made some very strange moves this year. Our beloved division rivals the Giants, under the benevolent, kindhearted ownership headed by John Mara, are still riding with Eli Manningwhile trading away his most potent target, Odell Beckham Jr. They did address the future quarterback succession by drafting Daniel Jones from Duke with the sixth overall pick, but most have a Jedi-like belief that he is not the QB they are looking for. Meanwhile, the Jets have recently fired Mike Maccagnan, giving head coach Adam Gase the GM responsibilities in the interim, which he quickly exercised by trading away LB Darron Lee, their 2016 first-round pick. At least he drove a hard bargain, getting a sixth-round pick in return from the Kansas City Chiefs. Oh, wait.Say what you will about Jerry Jones, he and his staff have avoided making highly questionable moves in recent years. The worst thing that can be brought up is the lack of production from former first-round selection Taco Charlton. Most of their moves, like taking Leighton Vander Esch in the first last year and the trade for Amari Cooper, have had an immediate favorable impact that exceeded a lot of expectations.Part of the success of late grows out of something that is masked by the often hilarious or befuddling utterances of Jones when he is drawn to microphones like a moth to a flame. He is a shrewd and smart businessman who brings more acumen to his GM role than some admit. Part of that is his ability to select subordinates that he is able to trust and work with and delegate to appropriately. A bit paradoxically Demarcus Lawrence Jersey , holding the real power in the organization frees him to use his lieutenants more effectively by sharing more authority than most of his GM peers. No one is more important to his operation than his son, executive VP Stephen Jones, who is at the least a co-GM, and in many ways carries most of the day-to-day load of the job. It is Stephen who does the real work in contract negotiations. The Cowboys have some big extensions to sort out in the near term, with Dak Prescott, Cooper, and Ezekiel Elliott seen as the top priorities. All three players have made some calming comments about not worrying about the negotiations while they focus on getting ready for the season. It is a refreshing change from the apparent acrimony that was reported during the DeMarcus Lawrence haggling. But that worked out, and as happens when a player has his financial future secured, old grievances were quickly left behind. Things are in good hands with the younger Jones. Then there is the not-so-secret weapon, Will McClay. The head of scouting has done a superb job finding future contributors in the draft, with some true success stories in Prescott, Elliott, Vander Esch, and Lawrence. Some lesser but still significant finds have come in the later rounds in players like Xavier Woods and Anthony Brown. And McClay undoubtedly had a role in the trades for Cooper and Robert Quinn. The latter is one that still has to be proven on the field, but it looks like a likely win for the team, and also marked a departure of sorts from recent years when the team was seen as too conservative in going after veteran help. That is another under-reported trait of Jerry. He is more flexible in his thinking than many other GMs. He often does not behave like the septuagenarian he is. Part of that is probably the influence of Stephen, but it is still a remarkable amount of ability to move on from old ideas and try something new. Many much younger GMs are less willing to take a chance. Job security plays a significant role, of course. Jerry only has to answer to himself, and that is a rare freedom for the GM position. Among non-owners, only Bill Belichick has something like the that, and even he could have to answer to Robert Kraft. There is a fourth member of the brain trust for the Cowboys, head coach Jason Garrett. While he is in the final year of his contract and widely seen to be coaching for his job, there are still many indications that the owner still has a lot of faith in him. The staff has certainly done a lot to give him a deep and talented roster heading into camp Womens Dak Prescott Jersey , and early this year finally excised the problem that was Scott Linehan. It remains to be seen if Kellen Moore will be the answer there, but optimism abounds about his fresh ideas, especially as it relates to play calling and the use of motion and formations to confuse and manipulate the defense. What is undeniable is that Garrett has brought a stability to the head coaching job. He has also instilled a viable and positive culture that echoes almost every time a player speaks to the media. The opportunity to do that stems in large part from the patience that the owner has had with him, which seems to reflect a belief in what Garrett is doing. He is now the sixth longest tenured coach in the league. That has some real benefits, although he still has to deliver on the one real requirement for all head coaches, playoff success. But when chaos is engulfing some other franchises, the Cowboys remain calm in their approach. That calm starts with Jerry Jones. He doesn’t get enough credit for it from some. Past mistakes loom large for many of his detractors. He made plenty of those, but he undeniably learned some valuable lessons. He is the second-longest-serving GM in the league. Somewhat surprisingly, Mike Brown of the Cincinnati Bengals, who also is the owner there, has been their de facto GM for three years longer than Jerry Jones in Dallas, but there is no real way to argue he has been as effective.Of course, the senior Jones will not be judged to be truly successful until his team gets to the promised land again. He has done some very positive things in recent years to do that, however. And if it finally pays off, it will be largely because of his performance. The contracts of receiver Amari Cooper and quarterback Dak Prescott will expire after this season. Running back Ezekiel Elliott is under contract through 2020 after the Cowboys exercised the fifth-year option on his deal. The Cowboys, though, hope to extend all three players sooner than later, with executive vice president Stephen Jones saying the team is “off and running” in contract talks.“It’s a great problem to have, because we do have good young football players,” Jones said. “But it’s a challenge.”The Cowboys got a long-term deal completed with defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence that made him (temporarily) the highest-paid player in team history. Cooper, Prescott and Elliott have combined for seven Pro Bowls and all are looking at deals that will make them among the highest-paid at their positions.Jones isn’t worried about there being enough money to go around, though he added that the deals need to be team friendly for the Cowboys to have salary-cap room that will allow them to contend. The more successful the Cowboys are, Jones said Demarcus Lawrence Jersey White , the more money players can make off the field in endorsements.Prescott, a fourth-round pick, has made more off the field than he has in his NFL contract thus far.“Obviously, I feel very good that we’re going easily work through – when I say easily, that’s a bad word to use – but we’re going to strategically work through getting guys like Dak and Amari and Zeke done,” Jones said. “I think we can still do others. It’s not like we’re going not be able to get that accomplished. But at the same time, as I told DeMarcus Lawrence — and I’ll tell all three of these guys – I’d love for you to max out and give you exactly what you want, because y’all have worked hard and you deserve to have a big contract, but if we want to put together the type of team we want to have with the Cowboys [then there has to be some give and take]. That’s not their job. It’s not their job to manage the cap. I understand that. But it is my job and Jerry [Jones’] job, so they will understand why we’re negotiating hard to make the very best deal we can, because the money, if we can talk them into not maxing out – doing well, but not maxed – then that allows us to have other good football players around them.“We all know what happens. You look at the TV booths, and you look at what these players do off the field. If we can put Super Bowl rings on these guys, then they’ll be legends around this area for many, many, many years to come. What they give up a little bit in their contract, they should be able to invest in being a Cowboy and making our teams better. Now, we’ve got to go get the job done as an organization, which means winning Super Bowls and doing great things on the field.”
Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are off to a hot start that has them looking like the playoff contenders they figured to be as long as Ezekiel Elliott's preseason-long holdout ended in time Malik Hooker Jersey White , which it did.The Miami Dolphins are dealing with the latest "elephant in the room" — the rare dishonor of being 20-plus-point underdogs in an NFL game after one of the most dismal beginnings to a season in nearly 60 years.Josh Rosen is replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback Sunday at the Cowboys (2-0) after Fitzpatrick compiled a 39.9 passer rating while the Dolphins (0-2) were outscored 102-10. No team since 1961 had a worse point differential after two games.Rosen, traded by Arizona after the Cardinals drafted him 10th overall in 2018 before changing coaches and taking Kyler Murray No. 1 overall this year, played the fourth quarter of last week's 43-0 loss to New England. The 36-year-old Fitzpatrick was asked about drops by receivers when he made the "elephant in the room" comment, while also mentioning the dismantling of the roster under first-year coach Brian Flores. The latest move, earlier this week, was sending disgruntled defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick to Pittsburgh for a first-round pick. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil and receiver Kenny Stills were shipped to Houston at the end of the preseason."A lot of this stuff, it's got to be talked about and put out there, and then you move on," Ryan Fitzpatrick said. "That's kind of the way that it's been handled."The Cowboys don't want to talk about whether they thought a 20-point spread in a pro game was even possible. "That's for the bettors, I guess," receiver Randall Cobb said."The NFL is so tight, from the top to the bottom," center Travis Frederick said. "The difference in that is a couple of bad bounces, maybe a couple of interceptions. There's a really minute difference. From the outside, it might look bigger than that. But on the inside, it's a tight game."Some story lines going into the 15th meeting in a series that's been a lot closer than this week's line (23 as of Wednesday) would indicate — each franchise has seven victories:COOKING WITH GASThe Cowboys haven't started a season with 400-plus yards and 30-plus points in each of their first two victories since 1978, back when going to the Super Bowl was a regular thing for them. This year Womens Peyton Manning Jersey , Dallas hopes to end a nearly 25-year stretch without advancing past the divisional round.Prescott is trying to become just the third quarterback with at least three touchdown tosses and a passer rating of 120-plus in four straight games. His streak goes back to last year's regular-season finale. Russell Wilson had five straight for Seattle in 2015, the now-retired Andrew Luck four with Indianapolis last year.PURGED ROSTERThe Dolphins have been outscored by 49 and 43 points in their first two games — the worst and third-worst regular-season defeats in franchise history. Don Shula coached Miami for 26 seasons and was never beaten so badly. After the latest deal involving Minkah Fitzpatrick, the Dolphins have three first-round picks in 2020, but that won't help them against the Cowboys."They're rebuilding," said Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts, an analyst for CBS who covered the loss to the Patriots. "It's hard. It's hard on the players, the coaches, the staff, the families, the fans. It's tough."ZEKE WATCHElliott is another step closer to full speed. The two-time rushing champion was right on his career average for touches (25) in the 31-21 victory at Washington. Thanks to a 27-yard carry on the last real play before a kneel-down, Elliott had his 20th career 100-yard game (111).After spending almost the entire preseason working out in Mexico, Elliott has his most yards rushing through two games (164) in his fourth season. "I did take care of business when I was gone, but that was expected," the 2016 All-Pro said.SWITCHING SIDESThe Dolphins claimed former Dallas defensive end Taco Charlton on Thursday, a day after the Cowboys waived their 2017 first-round pick. Although the move might be too late in the week for Charlton to be ready in time to play, the former Michigan player would love the chance to show something to the team he felt gave up on him too soon.Charlton, gone after just 27 games and four sacks as the 28th overall pick Womens Malik Hooker Jersey , went into training camp with his roster spot in jeopardy but was solid in preseason games while other defensive linemen recovered from injuries. With those missing plays back, Charlton was a healthy scratch the first two weeks.INJURY BUG BITINGReceiver Michael Gallup, who leads the Cowboys with 13 catches for 226 yards, is expected to miss up to a month after surgery for a left knee injury sustained against the Redskins. Safety Xavier Woods (ankle) and defensive tackle Antwaun Woods (knee) also got hurt in that game and are unlikely to play. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Marlon Mack looks around the Indianapolis Colts locker room and sees the continually changing nameplates. On Monday, Charcandrick West and Marquis Young went up on running back row. On Tuesday, James Williams joined the group. And more changes could be coming amid an injury rash that has decimated the Colts’ backfield depth.“You’ve just got to go out there and perform, each and every day,” Mack said. “There’s always competition and that’s what they tell us, just go out there and perform at the highest level you can.”At least the clear leader of the group, Mack, is healthy after battling injuries each of his first two seasons. He rushed for 358 yards playing behind Frank Gore as a rookie, when he missed two games. Last season with Gore in Miami, Mack won the starting job over two draft picks and finished with 908 yards and nine touchdowns despite missing four games. If he becomes a 16-game workhorse in 2019, a 1,000-yard season not only seems feasible but likely given the Colts’ goal of producing a top-five rushing offense. But behind Mack there are concerns.Nyheim Hines, listed second on the depth chart, survived a big collision on a punt return Saturday that left him flat on his back. He later explained he had the wind knocked out of him Andrew Luck Jersey , and was golfing Monday. The other backs haven’t been nearly as fortunate.A foot injury has kept Jordan Wilkins, Indy’s No. 3 option, out of action since July 30. He’s still listed as week to week.Jonathan Williams, fourth on the depth chart, broke a rib in the first half of Saturday’s loss to Cleveland and there’s no timetable for his return. D’Onta Foreman, whom the Colts claimed off waivers from Houston two weeks ago, went on injured reserve with a torn bicep muscle and will likely miss the entire season after taking only seven snaps Saturday. Spencer Ware, signed during the offseason, remains on the physically unable to perform list.Naturally, general manager Chris Ballard has been busy looking for replacements. He re-signed undrafted rookie Aca’Cedric Ware on Aug. 7 before this week’s flurry.“We need to get that position right,” coach Frank Reich said. “We need to have some depth. We need to figure out and see how everything is going to unfold with the other injuries — with Jordan and with Jonathan — and just need to make sure that we are ready to go.”It’s taken a toll on the Colts’ rushing productivity. Through two preseason games, Indy is averaging 89.0 yards per game and 3.7 yards per carry. Those numbers might not improve much this weekend with Reich announcing Wednesday most of the Colts’ starters won’t play against Chicago. And with so many moving parts, Mack and Hines suddenly find themselves playing new roles: mentoring the three newcomers, who are scrambling to learn the playbook and figure out how where they fit in the offense.“With the teaching, it’s OK,” Hines said. “We have so many details in the offense, we’re giving ourselves pointers and reminders Womens Darius Leonard Jersey , too.”Inconsistent backfield rotations aren’t the only problem.Starting quarterback Andrew Luck continues rehabbing from a lower left leg injury, which has kept him out of all but three practices since January.Meanwhile, the offensive line has played musical chairs with All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson dealing with an injured ankle, center Ryan Kelly missing time with a shoulder injury, and left tackle Anthony Castonzo taking extra time off during the week and on game day. Kelly returned to practice Aug. 11.Inside the locker room nobody is panicking.“Maybe to the outside it looks that bad,” Kelly said. “But once you dissect it and go in there and break the film down, if something doesn’t go perfectly right it’s usually because one or two assignments are blown, and in the grand scheme of things on the offensive line, those are big plays.”But the revolving door of running backs also has opened a window of opportunity for the newcomers. If Wilkins and Williams aren’t back for the Sept. 8 season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, Ward, Williams or Young could extend to 21 the Colts’ league-high streak of consecutive seasons with an undrafted rookie on the opening day roster.“It’s greater than it was,” Ware said when asked how the injuries have helped his odds. “All I have to do is get out there and show them I can play on this level and take advantage of those opportunities.”
At a time when Browns coach Freddie Kitchens hopes to reel in expectations that will find him squarely at fault if they aren’t met Womens David Njoku Jersey , one of his highest-profile players has pushed the bar even higher.“I plan on being there for the next five years and trying to bring as many championships there as possible,” Odell Beckham Jr. told , “turning [the Browns] into the new Patriots.”Here’s the thing about the Patriots. The Patriots never said that they intended to be the Patriots. They never vowed to achieve a goal, about anything — at any time. And by “they,” I mean “they” in the broadest possible sense. I mean everyone in the organization. In the past 19 years, through six Super Bowl wins and nine Super Bowl appearances and eight straight AFC title games and counting, no member of the franchise has ever called a shot, set a bar, registered an expectation. They forget about the past, and the only future they think about is the next opportunity to get better at what they do, and during football season they think only about the next game.Really Womens Odell Beckham Jersey , has any team that bought into its preseason hype ever delivered a Lombardi Trophy? Carrying around the weight of those expectations put a ton of pressure on teams early in the year, when the consequences of each loss become magnified. Indeed, 2-4-1 for the Browns in 2018 was regarded as a pleasant surprise; in 2019, it would be cause for panic, because of expectations that players like Beckham aren’t just embracing but creating. So what should someone like Beckham, whose fame will necessarily amplify his words, say? He should say the kinds of things his coach and G.M. are saying, that the Browns haven’t done anything yet, that they need to focus on the present, that they need to earn whatever they may achieve, that they’re not in the prediction business. That’s what Patriots players do Odell Beckham Browns Jersey , because they know that if they don’t they’ll have to answer to the man who has programmed those answers into their brains. For more, a video clip from PFT Live (with Simms and me discussing the issue) is attached to this item. Mayfield’s fine was for a lewd gesture during a touchdown celebration on the sideline.Edelman was fined twice for $26,739 apiece and once for $10,026. The only penalty came when he blocked Buffalo’s Siran Neal after calling for a fair catch on a punt.New York Jets coach Todd Bowles was fined $25,000 for criticizing officials in levies announced Saturday. Bowles said he “thought we were playing two teams” after the Jets were flagged 16 times for a team-record 172 yards in a 44-38 overtime loss to Green Bay.Jets defensive lineman Leonard Williams was fined $43,449, about half for an altercation with Green Bay right tackle Bryan Bulaga and the other half for a hit on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Williams was ejected after throwing a punch at Bulaga late in the second quarter. It was an expensive weekend for the Jets overall. Some interesting comments from a couple higher-ups in the NFL."Just about everyone has weighed in on the NFL Draft. ESPN’s Mike Sando recently sat down with some NFL executives and asked for their unfiltered opinions on every teams NFL Draft. Keep in mind Mike McGlinchey Jersey White , these are anonymous, so they can say anything without any repercussions. What you’re about to read is a great example of that. Here’s what they had to say.One thing that I’m looking forward to is Bosa and Dee Ford lining up on the same side. Gus Bradley, Dan Quinn, and every defensive coordinator that has run the “Seattle Cover 3” defense has done. Robert Saleh hasn’t had a pair of pass rushers to do this.I don’t want to sugarcoat this. This is such a dumb quote. If you watched any San Francisco 49ers game in December, you would see No. 94 on defense playing inside. Week 17 against the Rams, Thomas comes off the bench on the third series and subs in for Deforest Buckner, noted defensive tackle. For the next two plays when the Niners went to their sub-package, Buckner played the one technique, over the outside shoulder of the center, and Thomas played the three technique Dwight Clark Jersey White , where Buckner usually plays. Bosa and Thomas do not play the same positIon.Pretend Thomas was still playing on the edge. Knowing Dee Ford’s contract is team-friendly,if he flops, passing on Bosa is more of a gamble than anything. You could also look at this as just a best player available situation. That’s it. If Bosa is the best player on the board, take him. That is completely independent of Thomas, Q. Williams, or anyone, honestly. The more you hear people talk about Deebo, the more you fall in love with him. “Hard worker”, and “tough kid” keep coming up. I can’t wait to watch Samuel in a Kyle Shanahan offense. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is in the second year of a six-year deal. The team will give him time to turn it around, and Shanahan sounds as if he will give defensive coordinator Robert Saleh the same courtesy.鈥淪aleh is a very http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-adrian-colbert-jersey , very good coach,鈥?Shanahan said, via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. 鈥淗e always has been. He still is, and he鈥檚 not a finished product, either, like we all aren鈥檛. I think Saleh will continue to get better because he works at it. He鈥檚 very smart, and I think he鈥檚 good right now.鈥漈he 49ers rank 12th in total defense but 29th in points allowed. While Saleh got a vote of confidence, Shanahan admitted “tough decisions” await after a disappointing season.鈥淚 know we鈥檙e going to have some tough decisions to make, just personnel-wise, possibly staff-wise Brock Coyle Jersey White , just the whole building,鈥?Shanahan said. 鈥淏ut I try not to make any decisions until the time comes. I want to let this all play out.鈥淵ou never want to make decisions just to make decisions. When you do have a bad year like we have, just record-wise, I know that鈥檚 what people want. They want drastic change. They want quick answers. The key, though, is to get it right and to make sure you do the best thing possible to put our team in the best chance possible to win. That鈥檚 what we鈥檙e going to do hard after this year.鈥

METAIRIE Marshon Lattimore Jersey White , La. (AP) — Saints coach Sean Payton says Teddy Bridgewater will start New Orleans’ regular-season finale Sunday against Carolina. The decision announced Friday afternoon allows starter Drew Brees to rest for playoffs with the Saints already having wrapped up the top seed in the NFC.Bridgewater has appeared in just four games this season and has thrown only one pass, which was incomplete. Now the former first-round draft choice by Minnesota is set to assume his first prominent role in a regular-season game since 2015. A major knee injury has sidelined Bridgewater nearly all of the last two seasons.Payton says Bridgewater has “looked sharp all week,” and has made some “pretty special” throws during practices this season.Payton hasn’t gone into detail about other playing-time decisions Sunday. But the Saints have ruled out offensive linemen Terron Armstead (chest), Larry Warford (knee) and Jermon Bushrod (hamstring) on Friday’s injury report. EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Everson Griffen was back at practice with the Minnesota Vikings for the first time in almost six weeks, a significant point of progress in returning to his spot at right defensive end and re-establishing his pass-rushing and run-stopping skills in a game setting for the NFC North leaders. The first and most important step, though, was acknowledging his need for mental health treatment in the tough-guy environment of football that has long fostered a mindset of powering through a problem.“Sometimes you’ve just got to put your pride aside and know when enough is enough. Sometimes you’ve got to take it upon yourself and know when enough is enough and when you can’t handle it,” Griffen said.Griffen was a full participant in the workout on Wednesday afternoon, but coach Mike Zimmer said the decision about whether he’d play for the Vikings (4-2-1) on Sunday night against New Orleans would be made at the end of the week. Stephen Weatherly has started in Griffen’s place at right end for the past five games.“I feel good. I was able to work out and do the things I have to do, but playing this game of football https://www.thesaintslockerroom.com/authentic-drew-brees-jersey , it requires more than just working out,” Griffen said. “You’ve got to push somebody, hit somebody, get your timing back.”Though Griffen’s reintegration with the defense will be gradual, his welcome by the team was not.“It felt great to see my guys, man. I love each and every one of my teammates, and it was just good to see the smiles on their face,” said Griffen, who was taken by ambulance to a hospital on Sept. 22 after a scary series of incidents around the Twin Cities when he threatened violence in a hotel lobby and made repeated comments about people trying to kill him.“I had a lot of support from my family, the Minnesota Vikings, the doctors Womens Marshon Lattimore Jersey , my teammates, the fans, and you know I want to give my apologizes to people I impacted. I’m sorry if I affected them in any type of way,” Griffen said.“I’m just excited to get back here with my team and get back to the grind of things. It’s been hard to be away, but I’m happy to be back. It’s a good feeling right now, and I’m taking one day at a time and one thing at a time to get things back on track.”Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said the organization was in communication with Griffen’s medical team throughout his hiatus, relying on the professional recommendations regarding his return.“This is an illness,” Zimmer said, “and he’s done a good job of helping to get better and continues to try to get better. He is probably going to have to continue to do that, just like we all have to do in life.”Griffen politely declined to discuss in detail his treatment plan or specific issues, but said he’d do so in the future to use his public platform as way to positively influence the millions of Americans who struggle with some form of mental illness.“You need to ask for help. You need to go out there and find a good support team and do the right things to be able to take care of yourself Alvin Kamara Jersey White ,” Griffen said.Seeking and maintaining a work-life balance was a daily goal that Griffen frequently mentioned during a 10-minute session with reporters, his first such appearance since playing at Green Bay on Sept. 16 in the second game of the season.“I learned a lot about the man outside of football. I had a lot of time to reflect on my life and where I want to go and the decisions I made,” he said.Make no mistake, though: Being back in the meeting rooms and on the practice field with the Vikings was a cathartic experience.“It was awesome, man. Just getting back to life in general, driving my car, doing all the little things,” Griffen said. “You’ve got to appreciate the little things in life.”
A football field is also known as the gridiron Michael Thomas Jersey White , but gridiron has come to mean something more. It’s a place where athletes push their bodies to their limits and persevere through injury with one goal in mind: winning. Everyone wants to win including the fans, television networks, sponsors, owners, players, coaches, and perhaps even the team doctors. So I have to wonder, in the heat of the moment, with the pressure on, is there a dangerous disconnect between team performance and player protection? The recent interview by NBA veteran Andre Igoudala on the Breakfast Club revealed he had what is called a spider fracture in his leg during the 2018 NBA playoffs, yet his team characterized the injury as merely a bone bruise. This caused added external pressure on Igoudala to play through the injury. That pressure came from the media, his family, his coaches, and even his own teammates. “So I’m fighting with the team, I’m fighting with people, I’m fighting with the media. And then my teammates ask me every day, ‘How you feeling? How you feeling?’” Igoudala https://www.thesaintslockerroom.com/authentic-tre_quan-smith-jersey , a vital defensive weapon against Lebron James, ended up returning to action in the Finals after two and a half weeks for an injury that can easily take up to five weeks to fully heal. The Warriors do have an internal policy which requires approval from both a player and his representative to approve wording of his injury, so Igoudala was on board with the downplayed messaging of his injury. But following the Achilles injury to his teammate Kevin Durant a year later, an important question must be asked: are team doctors more obligated to protect team performance than player health?Player health and team performance are not mutually exclusive but short term interest in the team often trumps long term health of the players. It’s the team doctor’s responsibility to protect the players from themselves, but it seems they more often protect the team’s interest.Athletes want to compete, even when they are injured. I won a Junior Olympic Tae Kwon Do gold medal with a concussion and played in the NAIA National Volleyball Championships with a bulging disc in my lower back. I was medically cleared both times despite the fact that I shouldn’t have been. When I had to be carried onto the team bus because I couldn’t walk, I remember asking the team trainer if I was going to be able to play again during the tournament. That’s how much I wanted to show up for my team and grind through the pain, but I was a liability. In truth, I had been experiencing numbness throughout my hip and shooting pains down my leg for almost two weeks prior to the championship tournament. I was experiencing classic symptoms of a bulging or herniated disc. Our team trainer, also a Tulane physical therapist, should have easily recognized the symptoms and referred me to an orthopedist. Instead, I worsened the injury over two weeks of practice, played limited minutes in the tournament, and at the age of 20 I retired from volleyball. It would be nearly five years before I felt even 90% recovered. I needed to be saved from myself.I wondered, then, were there any Saints players who needed to be saved from themselves last year? After looking at the injury reports from Week 1 through 16, two glaring cases seemed to stand out. The more obvious case was Marcus Davenport Drew Brees Jersey White , who first popped up on the injury report in week nine with a toe injury. He was held out of competition through Week 11 before being listed as questionable in Week 12 and later a full participant in Week 13. Then somehow from Week 14 on, Davenport wasn’t even listed on the injury report despite requiring offseason surgery to repair the toe injury he seemingly played through for half the regular season and into the playoffs. Are we to believe Davenport’s injury magically healed the last month of the season or did the training staff try to hide his injury from their opponents and the media? I’m sure every team in almost every sport downplays injuries in order to maintain a competitive advantage over their opponents, but when does blurring that line become negligent towards their players? In a sport where contracts aren’t fully guaranteed for the most part, players have all the incentive to play through injury. Remember how important Keenan Lewis was to the Saints’ secondary in 2013 and 2014? By 2015, he had played his last professional game and would later seek an injury settlement with the Saints over a misdiagnosis and failed surgery of his hip flexor. The Saints fired teamorthopedists Deryk Jones and Misty Suri in 2017 for misdiagnosing Delvin Breaux’s fractured fibula as a bone bruise. In a sport where there are only 16 regular season games, team doctors have all the incentive to get players on the field at all costs. But in the case of Delvin Breaux, this mindset cost two doctors their jobs. The more curious case I noticed was Andrus Peat. I’ve read plenty of articles stating Peat is overpaid and could be a salary cap cut casualty, but after looking at his weekly appearances on the injury report, I’m not sure there’s a tougher Saint willing to sacrifice his body more.In week one, Peat was listed with a knee issue. In weeks two through six, an ankle issue. In week seven, the report simply said, “head.” In Weeks 10 and 11, it was his hip, but in Week 12 it was his knee. Then in Week 13, it was his shoulder, before becoming both ankle and shoulder in Week 15 Tre'Quan Smith Jersey White , and later just the shoulder in Week 16. In Week 8, 9, and 14, Peat was somehow perfectly healthy, which doesn’t make any sense at all. This dude sucked it up the entire freaking season with a different ailment almost every week, but why did his weekly reports look like a half ass version of the board game “operation”? It almost seems like the Saints were just pointing to body parts and naming them like Brick in Anchorman. Why don’t NFL injury reports state more than a body part? What was wrong with Peat’s head in week seven? A concussion seems to be the only pointed diagnosis NFL teams will allow the public to have full knowledge of from week to week, yet that wasn’t the term the team used.Do NFL players have any say in what the team divulges to the media and general public? Do the players trust their team’s medical staff? If they did, why are so many players choosing Dr. James Anderson, the surgeon who repaired Brees’ shoulder and Davenport’s toe, rather than trusting their own team surgeons?NFL teams are lucky they don’t have to list anything more than simply a body part in the injury report. But if they don’t start placing long term player health over short term team performance, that luck is bound to run out. METAIRIE, La. Early this morning Andrew Luck Jersey White , Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Eric Ebron would be going to injured reserve due to injuries to both of his ankles.Ebron's 2019 season didn't live up to what we saw from the pass catching tight end in 2018, but after a recent discussion with head coach Frank Reich, his production did increase. Regardless this marks the end of a disappointing second season for the former top-10 pick. With the Colts already thin with pass catching options, the loss of Ebron is magnified as T.Y. Hilton didn't look 100% in Thursday night's loss to the Texans and the Colts pre-season #2 and #3 receivers remain injured. Jack Doyle isn't capable of carrying the load by himself and while Zach Pascal has been a tremendous surprise, he isn't either. This off-season should see Chris Ballard make several moves to bring in more help at receiver. Thus far his attempts to fix the position haven't been overwhelmingly successful but Ballard doesn't seem like the type to not try to improve a position that is unproductive. We will update this story when more information becomes available.UPDATEIt appears that the Colts will bring back veteran tight end Ross Travis to take the roster spot made available after sending Ebron to IR. In 21 career games Travis has 10 catches for 91 yards and 1 touchdown. He isn’t a game changer in the passing game but you’ve got to figure there aren’t many of those guys available as free agents in late November. Now that the Combine is over, there will be more and more big name guys for these interviews. To change it up a bit Andrew Luck Jersey , each interview will have a little bit of background and film analysis of the player before the interview so that there is an entire picture painted of the player. Our first interview of the week is Georgia State WR Penny Hart.Background:Size:5’8” 180 poundsCareer Stats:203 catches for 2,960 yards with a yards per catch of 14.6 and 19 touchdownsWhy He Fits:Hart may not fit the starting outside receiver mold that the Colts need but he could solve their issues in the slot. The Colts rolled with players such as Chester Rogers and Ryan Grant in the slot position last season and got some really inconsistent play from the two. Hart may not have the greatest size but he makes up for it with insane quickness and route running for the position. He would be a reliable playmaker on the Colts and it would be exciting to see what Frank Reich could do with this skilled slot receiver.Film Room:Hart wowed scouts at the Senior Bowl with his route running. Strong release off of the line along with good feet to beat Nasir Adderley. He can also work a bit from the outside due to his route running. Makes a nice cut after the catch as well to score. Can also win deep with quick releases and footwork. Excellent concentration down the field as well.InterviewZH: You are a legit NFL prospect who has had a great career. How does a player with your abilities end up at Georgia State?PH: Honestly that was my only offer at the time. I went to a lot of different camps and did what I had to do and performed fairly well but Georgia State was the only one that wanted to take a chance on me. After going there on a few visits, I made a decision to want to go there and there was no one else offering at the time anyway. They chose me and I chose them.ZH: Stepping off of the field, I did see that you were a two time Athletic Director’s Honor Roll student at Georgia State. Were your academics just as important to you as your athletics?PH: Most definitely. Going through school and taking those classes has always been something that my grandfather always told me, to get my education, my parents get an education, because you know a long line of my ancestors couldn’t get their education so just completely taking advantage of that and doing well with that as well as football. ZH: You were a great player for Georgia State and were All-Conference the last couple of years. You were honored with being invited to the Senior Bowl as a result. How was the whole week down there off of the field from the interviews to the team meetings even?PH: It was fun. It was great just being able to be in an atmosphere of some of the top prospects in the whole country and just be that name in that class and it just felt really good. I loved meeting some of those guys, one in particular being Andy Isabella. I think he is an amazing player and an even better guy. Going through the whole week Womens Darius Leonard Jersey , we helped each other by competing but all in all just being able to be around that class of guys was cool and I think everyone was able to just enjoy that time being able to meet new people and have that experience. ZH: Stepping onto the field during the practices and you really turned some heads down there. Were you satisfied overall with your week of practices?PH: Yeah, for sure. I feel like I took advantage of the opportunity I was given. I was just going out there and doing what I’ve always done. Honestly, going out there and playing made me feel like I was five years old again every time that ball was snapped. I just wanted to go out there and dominate and do what I had to do. I was just glad to be able to go out there and play football and be with those guys.ZH: The biggest thing I see on film is your top notch route running. I don’t think people understand the nuance that goes into perfecting that craft. In your own words, what makes a great route runner?PH: I think the ability to be creative. I think being... the one thing in football that is truly an art is being able to create space and learning different ways to create space, learning how to come out of different breaks at certain angles, knowing how to set somebody up. To me seeing amazing routes and being able to go out there and do it as well, it truly is an art and seeing how many different ways there is to get open or make a play on the ball its amazing to me, I love watching just different highlights of players and everything like that. The different ways that people run routes and different wide receivers and the way they do things is just great. Creating space and being a receiver is definitely a true art.ZH: When you are watching film as a receiver what are you watching for when you watch a defense. How are you diagnosing a defense in order to find those openings?PH: I’m looking at certain tendencies of DB’s and cornerbacks and even linebackers and different tendencies of how they may show a blitz and come out of it and run a certain coverage that may set safeties and corners and everything because at the end of the day Peyton Manning Jersey White , we are trying to create and do our art and display it in different ways but they have to be able to find our pattern of how we want to create and be able to stop us. So I look at a lot of different tendencies as far as first step, second step, eyes, safety rotations, linebacker rotations, movement, those are a lot of different things I look at. I definitely give a lot of credit to Nick Arbuckle— who was my QB my freshman year— for teaching me how to watch film and things to look for and how to be successful and not just beating people with athleticism. Knowing what to do when the ball is snapped and before it is snapped. ZH: What was your favorite route or play at Georgia State that you just loved running?PH: I loved the shake route. It was a seven-three post corner and I loved running it. It was almost like automatically getting open, double move— you know they are going to bite on the post— and I’ll come right out of it running the corner Womens Andrew Luck Jersey , sitting wide open. ZH: I certainly saw you beat a couple guys with that route on your film. What area would you say that you need to improve most in the NFL?PH: Continually working on learning how to play out of rhythm. I think in my career I went from a point of getting the ball probably 3-5 times on the first drive to my last season not getting the ball until maybe the 4th quarter being my first catch. So early on last season, I had to learn how to help my team and play in a better way to help the team in general to get to where we need to go and be successful and be a part of the game. That came about through special teams and the blocking game and other facets of my game. Just being able to play not necessarily in rhythm but not necessarily out of it as well and finding a way to put my stamp on the game to help my team win.ZH: I completely agree and that brings up a question I actually didn’t plan on asking. Your blocking really improved the last season with Georgia State. What was the key to that jump in play in that area?PH: Honestly, looking at film from the previous year and seeing how ineffective I was and how one dimensional my game was, you know I was getting the ball a lot but at the same time I wasn’t doing anything to help my team when the ball wasn’t coming my way and I’m a person that doesn’t like to have any flaws in my game or have any things that people can point out and talk about. In the offseason I was just working differently with different drills but honestly it’s just a want to. I truly wanted to become a better blocker and help my teammates gain better yards and everything like that. So it just stemmed from actually wanting to and it trickled through the receiver group and we made that a key point to go out like hell and help the people in the backfield.ZH: Love receivers with that mindset. Who in the NFL do you model your game after?PH: I watch a lot of different people, I take things from DeAndre Hopkins’ aggressiveness, to Antonio Brown’s fundamentals, to Julio’s (Jones) athleticism, to Odell’s (Beckham) snap down but for the most part Malik Hooker Jersey , a lot of my game I contribute to Andrew Hawkins. He’s not playing anymore but when I was young, growing up watching him on the show, Michael Irvin was giving people a chance to have a shot to be on the Cowboys team, him and Jesse Holley going to the last final. Seeing someone at that stature playing receiver just ignited a spark in me that wanted to be able to do that one day because I felt like he was a groundbreaking player to be able to play receiver and be as quick as he was and being able to get as far as he did in that show. I definitely contribute a lot of my game to him and I try to emulate him a lot.ZH: Final question for you. What would it be like to (potentially) play alongside guys like Andrew Luck and T.Y Hilton next season with the Colts?PH: That would be phenomenal. Andrew Luck being someone I have had the opportunity to speak to— we have the same agent— so being able to speak with him and him continually giving me advice and just helping me when I move through this process when I talk to him— like telling me to continue to work and that he’ll keep up with me— is just amazing and I can’t wait to be able to work in the NFL and possibly be able to work with him being a great QB in the NFL. T.Y Hilton is an amazing player who I would love to compliment. Him being the leading receiver in the Sun Belt— I was chasing that until I left— but these are phenomenal players who put their stamp on the game and it would be a phenomenal opportunity to be able to play in Indianapolis.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns will again be without rookie starting cornerback Denzel Ward Bernie Kosar Jersey , who will miss his second straight game Saturday at Denver with a concussion.Ward has been in concussion protocol since getting hurt while making a tackle in a Dec. 2 loss at Houston. Ward sat out last week’s win over Carolina and missed all three practices this week before the Browns announced Thursday that he has been ruled out against the Broncos. The No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft, Ward has had a strong first season. He has three interceptions and been credited with 48 tackles.Terrance Mitchell is expected to start again in Ward’s spot alongside cornerback T.J. Carrie. The Browns also placed tight end/fullback Orson Charles on injured reserve with an ankle injury suffered against the Panthers. Cleveland elevated linebacker Xavier-Woodson-Luster to the active roster and he’ll travel with the team to Denver.Browns center JC Tretter is listed as questionable but is expected to play with a severely sprained ankle he’s been battling for weeks. 49ers get second best odds for Le’Veon Bell in 2019 Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is continuing his holdout http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-ahkello-witherspoon-jersey , and with it potentially lasting into November, his future remains uncertain. Naturally, you can bet on said future. The folks at BetOnline.ag offered up new odds on where Bell will be playing when Week 1 of the 2019 season arrives. The San Francisco 49ers have the best odds of any team other than the Steelers. The Steelers were without Bell in their opener on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, and while the game ended in a 21-21 tie, Pittsburgh had to be happy with the performance of rookie running back James Conner. He rushed 31 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns, while also hauling in five receptions for 57 yards. It was against the Browns Mike Person Jersey White , so take it with a grain of salt, but it was a strong start nonetheless. If Bell returns in time for I believe Week 12, he can still accrue a season toward free agency, and thus hit the open market next year. I don’t expect him to be on the Steelersroster a year from now, although I suppose they could use the franchise tag a third time.If I were going to place a wager, I would probably lean on the New York Jets Womens Y.A. Tittle Jersey , although the Indianapolis Colts make some sense as well. The 49ers invested in Jerick McKinnon this offseason, but now face questions following his ACL tear. The position could still be an area of need next offseason, but I just don’t see them spending the kind of money it would probably take to land Bell. Real quick, once Hurd gave his answer, were you expecting something else? I was. Then again, that’s probably the college kid in him, especially once he says where his go-to pizza place is. His favorite TV show? Another shocker. You’ll also find out that Hurd is a self-proclaimed movie buff and a Steven Spielberg fan. Hurd’s two favorite movies are complete opposites. Hurd is also a board game fan. Who doesn’t love a good game night? He said Sellers of the Time Settlers of Catan, which I’ve never heard of. Hurd describes the game as a more intense monopoly. PDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:What 49ers jersey are you investing in this year? TwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailWith training camp coming up Weston Richburg Jersey White , I had an epiphany: I need to get my jersey situation figured out. My jersey collection consists of a retro Joe Montana, a Frank Gore, and a Patrick Willis Super Bowl 47 jersey. All of them awesome and all of them out of date. I figured this year would be a good time to drop the ridiculous $300 dollars on one of those elite jerseys, but then came the hard decision on which player to invest in. Jimmy Garoppolo is an obvious option. Last year he actually was moving some of the most merchandise in the NFL. This year he hasn’t been so much of a mover Womens Dwight Clark Jersey , but the quarterback is always a good go-to jersey choice. There’s also unique players like Trent Taylor who offered to send replacements to anyone who bought his jersey. For me, I’m actually leaning towards George Kittle. He’s a guy I could actually see myself having a beer with and talking wrestling and video games. He also helped propel me to being the undisputed fantasy champion last year since I owned him in all my leagues. I know the players tend to hate fantasy football for obvious reasons, but it was still awesome that he was my boy in that. So Kittle will probably be the investment. Jersey’s are always a risky thing. They are so bloody expensive and you run the risk of your name underperforming, or worse Alfred Morris Jersey White , getting traded/released in a year. When the top-line jerseys are in the $300 range, you definitely are making an investment hoping to keep that name around so your jersey isn’t dated. Even after the player switches teams or retires, there’s a certain history and nostalgia for the time you spent wearing it. Ben Ammar, who will be joining us for our fantasy football talks on Facebook Live soon http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-k_waun-williams-jersey , had a Vernon Davis elite jersey given to him as a gift and refused to update it because he was such a Davis fan. Then of course, someone broke into his apartment and stole the jersey instead of his PS4 (this is a true story). So I’m leaning on Kittle. Are any of you looking to update your jersey collection? If so, who? Do you have a go-to jersey to wear on gameday? Who is it?
The Saints have taken on a different look since quarterback Drew Brees injured his thumb in Week Two and playing the field position game has been a big part of the new approach they’re taking.Punter Thomas Morstead has helped make that a winning approach the last two weeks. Morstead has put 6-of-10 punts inside the 20-yard-line in two straight wins that allowed the Saints to leave September with a 3-1 record.Morstead has dropped 11-of-17 punts inside the 20 overall and he’s posted a net average of 44.8 yards per kick. That was enough for the NFL to name him as the NFC’s special teams player of the month for September.Another punter took the AFC honors. Browns rookie Jamie Gillan took the honors in that conference. The Scottish Hammer has a net average of 40.6 yards per kick and he’s put 11-of-20 inside the 20 while drawing 10 fair catches from opposing returners. KANSAS CITY Bernie Kosar Jersey White , Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah from Cleveland in a swap for safety Eric Murray, who was originally drafted by current Browns general manager John Dorsey.Ogbah did not report for the start of the Browns’ offseason program Monday Jarvis Landry Jersey White , a sign that a trade was in the works. The 25-year-old defensive end was picked 32nd overall in the 2016 draft, and he had 12½ sacks while starting all 40 games he played over the past three seasons. He had three sacks and 40 tackles in 14 games last season. The Chiefs have been adding edge rushers that fit into new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s 4-3 scheme while jettisoning pieces that no longer fit. Murray Nick Chubb Jersey White , who was picked by Dorsey for the Chiefs in 2016, became expendable when they signed free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu. He started nine games and appeared in 15 last season https://www.brownslockerroom.com/authentic-baker-mayfield-jersey , making 43 tackles and an interception.
The Indianapolis Colts have released their injury report for Wednesday Womens Andrew Luck Jersey , their second of the week after releasing an estimation of a player’s participation from Tuesday’s walkthrough practice. The biggest news of the day was the return of starting center Ryan Kelly (neck) and safety Clayton Geathers (knee) to practice, and both were full participants. Kelly has been nursing his neck injury since getting hurt against the Giants in Week 16, while Geathers was hurt in the Colts’ game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15.Four Colts — wide receivers Ryan Grant (toe) and T.Y. Hilton (ankle), defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis (knee) and tight end Eric Ebron (rest) — missed Wednesday’s practice. Lewis and Grant were injured in the Colts’ regular-season finale against the Titans, and Hilton has been missing mid-week practices for some time despite playing on Sundays.Linebacker Anthony Walker (shoulder) and running back Jordan Wilkins (knee/ankle) were listed on the injury report despite being full participants on Wednesday. Defensive lineman Jabaal Sheard (knee) and safety Malik Hooker (hip) were both limited for the second day in a row.A number of wide receivers joined Hilton and Grant on the injury report, as Zach Pascal (knee), Daurice Fountain (ankle) and Dontrelle Inman (shoulder/finger) were all limited participants on Wednesday. Every week Malik Hooker Jersey , I will present a summary of some basic and advanced stats for the Colts performance relative to the league. Thanks to Pro Football Reference, NFL.com and the nflSCrapR project for being awesome sources of weekly data.Unsurprisingly, Dallas came out running the ball against the Colts last Sunday as Ezekiel Elliott found some initial success, hoarding the Time Of Possession in the first half.Somewhat surprisingly (well it was surprising to me), the Colts also found rushing success, slowing the game and giving each team only 7 offensive drives on the day (the last kneel-down drive excluded). That’s the fewest drives of any game all year. The Colts scored on 5 of those drives but only the first one was needed. The only poor Colt’s drive was Marlon Mack’s fumble.Even the Rigoberto Sanchez punt came on a drive that was “matriculating down the field” with 4 first down conversions before a veritable butt-load of penalties killed it. 23 offensive first downs is a lot. 23 first downs on 7 drives is ridiculously good and is why the Drive Success Rate was a sky-high 82%. TEAM TOTALS23 points is good, but on only 7 drives it is great and ends up being the 3rd most Adjusted Points per Drive (3.3) of the week.Even with the game slowed down Andrew Luck Jersey White , the Colts put up a lot of yards and having 1 out of every 3 plays be a first down is an excellent way to win games.Over the past few weeks, third down conversions have been problematic but this weeks 67% conversion rate led the league. The Cowboys did their part as well, extending Colt drives 3 times with penalties. PASSINGComing in to the game, the Dallas defense was ranked 19th against the pass (Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt against). So, it’s not that surprising that Andrew Luck basically played a little bit better than his season average. While his completion % was lower than usual, the Yards after Catch was very good (2nd week in a row!)Luck missed his only passing TD attempt, but 0 picks and 0 sacks kept his ANY/A at a decent 7.1The most important number Darius Leonard Jersey White , however, is that over 40% of Luck’s passes were first down conversions. So, even though the passing volume was low and the efficiency just a bit above average, the passing game kept the chains moving. In fact, only 2 other passing offenses had more success converting first downs last week.RUSHINGAs of last week, Dallas ranked 7th in preventing successful runs (weighted Rush Success Rate), but against that stout defense Peyton Manning Jersey , the Colts exceeded their season wRSR average (44% vs 39%) while putting up the 3rd most rushing yards on the season (178). Marlon Mack was over 80% of that production with the 2nd most carries of any running back this week. He put up a 5.3 YPC, a 51% wRSR, which was 5th best of any RB (min 10 carries) and he scored the only TDs of the game.He was, as the kids used to say, en fuego. CONCLUSIONS & NEXT MATCH-UPThere is no question that the Colts offense was firing on all cylinders against the Cowboys and even with the mental errors of penalties and drops (I’m looking at you Pro-Bowler) , they had no problem moving the ball and scoring. Next up are the New York football Giants. They will bring a pass defense that has managed to consistently limit QBs (9th in ANY/A against). They tend to give up passing yards but are stingy with points, tied for 5th fewest passing TDs given up (1.3 per game) and 5th most interceptions on the year (15). However Darius Leonard Jersey , their run defense is not nearly as good giving up the 20th highest wRSR on the year and the 25th most rushing TDs (1.1 per game). The Colts are heavy favorites at home (-9.5) so, hopefully we see another dominant offensive performance. Dolphins coach Brian Flores met with the media at his Friday press conference and the main topic of conversation was his decision to start Josh Rosen at quarterback against the Cowboys this week.Among the questions was what persuaded Flores to make that call after saying Ryan Fitzpatrick remained the starter earlier in the week. Flores couched that statement by saying “right now” and said that Rosen’s work over the last few days swung things in the other direction.“I think he saw an opportunity and jumped at it in practice really well. . . . His development’s very important to me so I never wanted to throw him in there too quickly. I do think he’s ready Taco Charlton Jersey White ,” Flores said.Flores said Fitzpatrick was disappointed, but that he has stepped up to help Rosen prepare for the start in a way that Flores called “impressive.” Flores was also asked about Rosen taking on the job for the long term. He said there’s potential for that to happen, but wants the quarterback only focused on this week because you “lose a little bit of right now” if your eyes look too far down the road.Any thoughts of long term could be squashed along with Rosen if the offensive line continues to struggle as it has over the first two weeks. Flores said he’s confident that it will be better and Sunday will show if he’s right or not. The Cowboys are deep on the offensive line. They’re deep on the defensive line. Thus, it should come as no surprise that the Cowboys have gotten calls from teams interested in trading for one of the team’s linemen.“We do get calls on both offensive and defensive lines,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday. “We’ve made that a priority over the years Amari Cooper Jersey White , and it’s a strength of ours, and some teams are interested in it.“Yeah, I think there’s a possibility for sure that we could move somebody.”The Cowboys, though, likely will want a draft pick Womens Michael Gallup Jersey , and not a player, in return.“I will say this: This is about as good as we’ve felt about our roster in a long, long time, but you never say never on being able to find something that can improve you,” Jones said. “Certainly Demarcus Lawrence Jersey , we’ll be looking for that. One of the problems we’ve got right now is spots are tight. We’re uncomfortable obviously with some people we may have to expose out there, and that’s part of it. As I said, hat’s off to Will [McClay] and his staff and Jason [Garrett] and his staff. We’ve done a good job I think of putting together a really solid football team right here. But we’ll look for ways to get better, and certainly if we can pick up some picks here at the midnight hour that make sense for us, we’ll do that. too.”
