replica Greubel Forsey GMT
Greubel Forsey GMT Sport
Visually and mechanically great.
Even in the rarefied realm of haute horlogerie, Greubel Forsey has elevated watchmaking to a level unmatched by other companies - innovating not only in finishing but also in chronometry, while also establishing its own unique three-dimensional aesthetic.
Now, the brand is combining all of this into its first-ever sports watch, the GMT Sport. While the GMT Sport is functionally nearly identical to the existing GMT, combining world time with a tilting tourbillon, it looks no different than any other Greubel Forsey. Its movement is mainly made of titanium and has been modified to fit the new oval case.
Although this buy watch replica is very different, it is impressive in many aspects, especially in its finish and construction.
new look
Rated to a depth of 100m, the GMT Sport is a large watch with an organic shape, with no right angles, few edges and few flat surfaces. But it has a mechanical-looking style, with the lugs attached to the case via visible screws and protruding pushers.
Its structure is complex and exquisite, its most unusual feature being the crystal and bezel that curve in multiple planes. The case appears round when viewed from the top, but is actually tonneau-shaped, with an oval bezel that curves vertically from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock. In order to fit the curvature of the case, the watch mirror is also oval and curved, further highlighting the architectural depth of the movement.
The perimeter of the bezel extends slightly outward from the case to the integrated strap. As a result, the watch looks much larger than it actually is when worn. The bezel is 45mm wide and the case width is just 42mm.
The entire watch is 15.7mm tall, which is large by any standard, but the titanium case and movement mean it's a lot lighter than it looks. As opposed to the usual big and heavy feel of Greubel Forsey watches, this one is big and light.
In fact, the entire watch (including strap and buckle) weighs just 115 grams (approximately 4 ounces) – half the weight of a regular Greubel Forsey watch with a precious metal case.
Although it's all titanium, the case actually comes in two tones: natural titanium on the front, back, and lugs, while the middle of the case is black-coated titanium. The result is somewhat reminiscent of the cases of Richard Mille and Hublot, both of which relied on similar two-tone sandwich constructions.
The crown on the right side of the case has a rubber insert for better grip
Every element of the case is carefully designed and finished. For example, the lugs have brushed upper surfaces with chamfered edges that surround frosted grooves.nice watches shop
The bezel alone is impressively decorated with a number of different finishing techniques. Its outer bevel is micro-engraved in relief to reflect the brand's philosophy, a recurring element on Greubel Forsey watches, often applied to the sides of the case. While the micro-engraving is impressive, all the text on the bezel feels unnecessary and a bit exaggerated.
Brand new GMT movement
While the movement functions essentially the same as the first GMT watch, it was rebuilt from the ground up to fit the new oval-shaped curved case.
The watch is a world timer as the globe is combined with a city disk on the back and a second time zone indicator at 10 o'clock. But the heart of the dial is the three-dimensional globe at eight o'clock, which makes one full counterclockwise rotation every 24 hours – moving in the direction of the Earth's rotation. The globe is fixed to the base plate only at its base and allows a visual inspection of the time around the world thanks to the sapphire 24-hour ring on its edge.
With this ring, one could estimate the time around the world—albeit with knowledge of geography. It also doubles as a day/night indicator, with the 24-hour ring split into two halves, with the darker part indicating nighttime and the lighter part indicating daytime.
The familiar tourbillon
The 24-hour globe is combined with another major Greubel Forsey invention – a fast-moving tourbillon tilted at 25°, which makes one revolution every 24 seconds, achieved through a lightweight cage. While the mechanism is the same as the tilting tourbillon found in earlier models, its stylistic execution has been adjusted to match the design of the watch. The tourbillon is therefore held in place by black polished steel bridges, forming a gentle “V” shape but with a recessed center and a matte black coating on the surface.replica Patek Philippe Grand Complications
While this exotic tourbillon serves more of a visual purpose, the rationale behind the tilting tourbillon, as well as all of the brand's tourbillons, stems from its deep interest in improving precision. In fact, improving the tourbillon used on the wrist – rather than a static pocket watch or clock – was one of the fundamental driving forces of the brand.
Unlike vertical or biaxial tourbillons, inclined tourbillons allow for the use of considerably larger balances without requiring an unreasonably thick case.
According to Greubel Forsey, tilting it away from the horizontal avoids the most extreme gravitational errors in the balance, while still averaging errors in the second plane of the balance. In fact, the result is close to that of a biaxial tourbillon, while maintaining a high degree of controllability of the movement.
Finished with care
While a typical Greubel Forsey movement uses German silver for the bridges and base plate, the GMT Sport movement is almost entirely titanium treated with black for maximum lightness. But the finish is in Greubel Forsey's usual style, with a matte finish on most flat surfaces.
As with earlier GMT watches, the dial is divided into three levels: a raised second time zone subdial, a rotating disc with small seconds subdial, dial and recessed apertures for the globe and tourbillon. replica Richard Mille Bubba Watson
But on the GMT Sport, individual elements of the dial have been rearranged to maximize visual depth and blend into the curved case. The hour and minute hands occupy the highest plane of the movement, with all other elements gradually lower in position.
The tourbillon sits on the diagonal of the 24-hour globe, all surrounded by a raised minute track on the periphery of the dial, with its markers pointing toward the center of the dial.
All elements have been carefully conceived and finished; the arched V-shaped bridge rises upward and supports the hour and minute hands, whose canon pinions are housed in golden sleeves. The tips of the hands, coated with Super-Luminova, are openworked and curved lengthwise to match the curvature of the crystal.
The steel hands stand out because the bridges and base plate are mostly black-coated. They are driven by a visible gear train – contained within a V-shaped bridge – that is visually separate from the tourbillon. The differential for the power reserve indicator, which is almost invisible behind the pointer train, is once again slightly engraved with the brand's values, presented in a much smaller font than would naturally appear on the bezel.
Like the tourbillon bridge, the pointer bridge is blackened and recessed in the center, while the edges are chamfered. However, the bridge between the running wheel arches has a frosted surface without bevels to match the frosted surface of the bridge. Despite being a relatively small element, the pivot holes on both small bridges are beautifully countersunk – a testament to Greubel Forsey's high level of decoration. replica urwerk UR 230
The movement is reminiscent of other watches thanks to its two-tone titanium case. But there aren't many similarities – the GMT Sport movement is far more finished than the others.
While the finish and degree of reconstruction (compared to the original GMT) are both impressive, it's worth noting that the movement has not been tuned for sporting purposes. For example, the automatic movement in the A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus is based on an existing movement but has a larger balance wheel to increase inertia when running at a higher frequency, thus improving stability even in the face of shocks. But perhaps nothing is necessary for the GMT movement.
spiral city
The world time disc on the back of the watch shows the time in 24 time zones, each time zone represents a city, and all city names are engraved on the sapphire disc.
Cleverly, the disc also takes daylight saving time (DST) into account. Cities in time zones that adhere to DST are shown in white so the correct local time can be read using the internal 24-hour ring during the summer. In winter, an external embossed 24-hour ring is used on the case back.
One notable difference from the original GMT is the removal of the gold-plated wheel representing the sun; on the original model the steering wheel indicated the daytime time zone, which was a somewhat redundant feature considering everything that preceded it, so it was removed and Nothing to lose.
Interestingly, the screw holding the case back has a proprietary three-lobed head that requires a special screwdriver to turn. Other Greubel Forsey watches already use proprietary screws of different designs to secure the case back, so this is an unusual detail.
With the GMT Sport, Greubel Forsey has created a sports watch with a beautifully constructed and original case that is also subtly reminiscent of other case designs. What's important for a sports watch is that despite its size, it's wearable.
Perhaps more crucially, a high quality replica watches is more than just a new outfit. It features a completely new movement architecture that creates greater depth on the dial while still retaining the functionality of the original GMT. But the movement has not been modified for a specific sport, which would be an interesting evolution of the movement, but may not be necessary if its current construction handles the increased activity well.
