Lions-Jets final score: Matt Patricia era off to embarrassing start http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-christian-jones-jersey , Lions lose 48-17 If first impressions are everything, Matt Patricia is in for a rough career as the Detroit Lions head coach. In his first career game, the Lions were absolutely embarrassed on their home field in front of a national audience. Detroit dropped the opener 48-17 and there wasn’t much of anything that went right. Here’s how it happened. First quarterThe Lions won the coin toss and decided to defer, leaving the Jets with no choice but to take the ball first. Sam Darnold was up first. And it didn’t take long for Darnold to make an impression—in a very wrong direction. On a rollout to his right, Darnold decided to throw the ball across his body, right into the arms of Quandre Diggs, who took it to the house:The second possession for the Jets was a little more successful, but it stalled around midfield after Ezekiel Ansah picked up a sack on third down. The Lions offense took the field for the first time afterwards, and couldn’t get anything going—a sign of things to come. An early 7-yard loss from LeGarrette Blount sent the Lions into a hole they couldn’t recover from. To make matters worse, former Lions punt returner Andre Roberts took the punt for 43 yards, setting the Jets up in Lions field position. After an injury scare to Darius Slay (he returned) and a few third-down conversions, the Jets punched it in and tied the game. 7-7. The Lions offense picked up where they left off, which is to say... in neutral. A dropped pass by Theo Riddick was followed up with an desperate heave from Stafford that was intercepted, giving the Jets good field position once again. This time, the Lions would hold strong in the red zone, with Devon Kennard picking up the drive-killing sack. The Jets would add a field goal on the first play of the second quarter and take the lead. 10-7 Jets. Second quarterThe Lions offense finally got going at the start of the second quarter thanks to the debut of Kerryon Johnson. The rookie running back took his first carry for five yards, then added a catch and a third down conversion. That’s when things got wacky. Stafford threw an interception after TJ Jones’ route was disrupted on a timing play, but Kenny Golladay saved the day with a fumble-inducing hit, giving the ball right back to Detroit:The Lions offense stalled from there and were forced to attempt a 55-yard field. Matt Prater didn’t get all of it, and it fell a couple yards short, leaving the game at 10-7 Jets and giving New York good field position yet again.New York threatened into Lions territory, but a gadget running play on third-and-1 backfired and a 9-yard loss drove the Jets out of field goal position, and they were forced to punt. The Lions offense remained stuck in neutral, and this time their drive came with more bad news. Stafford’s leg was rolled up on, and he was hobbling the rest of the drive. After just one first down, the Lions were forced to punt. This time, Sam Darnold made them pay, connecting on a 41-yard bomb to Robby Anderson:17-7 Jets. The Lions, as they usually do, ran a pretty solid two-minute drill thanks to a couple of big plays from Kenny Golladay. However, the red zone struggles from last year apparently have carried over, and the Lions couldn’t punch it in despite having first-and-goal from the Jets’ 7-yard line. Detroit would add a field goal, cutting it to a one-score game before the end of the half. 17-10 Jets.Third quarterThe Lions offense finally woke up http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-legarrette-blount-jersey , and did so in a hurry. It only took Stafford four plays—and four straight completions—to get the Lions their first offensive touchdown of the game, a 24-yard strike to Golden Tate. And just like that, it was tied. 17-17.But the Jets struck back almost as quickly. Darnold hit Quincy Enunwa on a pick play with Nevin Lawson trailing in coverage for a 21-yard score. 24-17 Jets.Stafford followrf with a critical mistake. Facing a third-and-1, the Lions quarterback targeted Theo Riddick, but completely overlooked Jets linebacker Darron Lee, who picked off Stafford for a touchdown. That was the third interception for Stafford on the day. 31-17 Jets. And the bad kept coming. After a three-and-out that featured Matthew Stafford taking a hit that knocked him out for a play, the Jets returned the ensuing punt for a touchdown and the route was on. 38-17 Jets.Stafford came back out, despite the injury, and immediately threw another interception. The Jets tacked on a field goal, pushing their lead to 24. 41-17 Jets.Fourth quarterLet’s just bullet point the rest of this one:Prater misses a 45-yard field goal.Isaiah Crowell runs for a 62-yard touchdown, 48-17 Jets.Lions offense turns it over on downs in the red zone.Jets three-and-out on three runs.Matt Cassel in, throws an interception.Jets probably would’ve scored, but took knees to bleed the final seconds off the clock.Jets fans are annoying. The Lions obviously still need a lot of work to do, and Stafford hasn’t looked this bad in quite some time. It’s still obviously extremely early in the season, but Detroit can’t afford to fall too far behind in this division early. PregameThe inactives for the game were announced just before kickoff and there were some big surprises. Former Lions second-round picks A’Shawn Robinson and Ameer Abdullah are both healthy scratches for the game, indicating they’re both pretty far down on the depth chart. Meanwhile, the Jets will be missing three starters, including wide receiver Jermaine Kearse. Both teams will be looking to make a huge impression to start the season off right. Here’s how to watch “Monday Night Football” and your 2018 Detroit Lions. Date: September 10, 2018Time: 7:10 p.m. ET TV: ESPNLocal TV: ABCAnnouncers: Beth Mowins (play-by-play), Brian Griese (analyst), Laura Rutledge (sideline reporter)Online streaming: WatchESPNLocal radio: WJR 760 (Dan Miller, Lomas Brown) National radio: Westwood One (Ian Eagle, James Lofton, Ross Tucker)Odds: Lions by 6.5 In “Around the NFC North” we take a look at the Detroit LIons’ divisional rivals to see how they performed in the previous week and how it affects the race for the NFC North crown. Bears lose in overtime on last second field goal to the Dolphins, 31-28Boy was the schadenfreude heavy in this battle between two teams that actively tried to give the game away. The Bears had a rough start to the game scoring a goose egg in the first half, but only trailed by seven as their defense settled down and contained Brock Osweiler—who got the nod over an injured Ryan Tannehill—and the rest of the Dolphins’ offense. Results from Windy City Gridiron’s Week 7 FanPulse survey. The Bears would come roaring out of the gates at the start of the second half and quickly scored 14 unanswered points. But despite the resurgence from the Bears offense, Brock Osweiler, yes Brock Osweiler, managed to trade blows against the vaunted Bears defense with the help of Albert Wilson, who hauled in six catches for an impressive 155 yards and two touchdowns. When the Bears held the Dolphins offense toward the end of regulation, instead of calling a timeout to get the ball for about a minute and 30 seconds, they decided to let the clock run out instead and play for overtime. They would also get the ball into Dolphins territory in overtime after a strike of luck when Miami fumbled the ball at Chicago’s the 1-yard line, and instead of continuing their push downfield Cheap Marvin Jones Jr Jersey , the Bears decided to play for the 53-yard field goal and missed that, too. Miami finally put the game away on the following possession on a game winning 50-yard field goal on the foot of their rookie kicker, Jason Sanders. This was really the first time that the Bears defense had looked vulnerable all year, and boy did they look bad. On the offensive side of the ball, Mitchell Trubisky had a nice game on the statsheet, but that doesn’t include the two or three throws that were nearly intercepted and could have spelled an early disaster for them. And it wasn’t just him, as Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen also had costly turnovers. On the positive side for the Bears, Kyle Fuller is still really good as a No. 1 cornerback and notched two interceptions. Tarik Cohen also looks electric and aside from his costly fumble, I thought he had a great game. Another player that impressed me was Taylor Gabriel, who has proven to be a nice addition to the Bears offense. I fear what he might do to Nevin Lawson this year. Next game: vs Patriots (3-2)Vikings dance their way to victory over Cardinals, 27-17The Cardinals held a lead very briefly halfway through the first quarter, but the Vikings would come soaring back with a touchdown of their own and never looked back. Latavius Murray had himself a career game with 155 rushing yards and a touchdown on 25 carries and Adam Thielen kept up his dominance, hauling in 11 receptions for 123 yards and a TD for himself. The man with the moves, Kirk Cousins, didn’t have the best statistical game—aside from a nice 6.9 yards per attempt—but he did have a rushing touchdown.Good for Kirk.Dan Bailey, the Vikings’ new kicker was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points which is just very unlike Vikings kickers and I’m beginning to fear that they might finally be good on all three phases of the ball again. Let’s just hope that the defense doesn’t go back to dominating. Next game: at Jets (3-3)Don’t sleep on the Jets. They might not have the best resume, but this could be a trap game for the Vikings.Mason Crosby redeems himself on game-winning field goal, Packers win 33-30 against 49ersThis was about as back-and-forth as it gets, especially for a primetime “Monday Night Football” game. Just six minutes into the first quarter, each team marched their way down the field for an early seven points and the scoring would not let up. The 49ers offense got the best of the Packers for most of the game and held the lead all the way to the end, until they didn’t. Rodgers was his old self despite his injury and spun the ball for a whopping 425 yards and two touchdowns on 46 attempts. He was more clutch than he has normally been throughout his career, capping the game off with a 10-play, 81-yard drive that led to a game-winning field goal from Mason Crosby. Crosby was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points—an obviously huge improvement over his performance last week against the Lions. Next game (10/28): at Rams (6-0)The Packers needed that win against the 49ers, as they head into their bye week, and then prepare for a difficult set of back-to-back road games against the Rams and Patriots. NFC North Week 6 standings1. Chicago Bears (3-2)2. Green Bay Packers (3-2-1)3. Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1)4. Detroit Lions (2-3)After a bye week, the Lions remain at the bottom of the NFC North, but this was still a successful week for them, as they’re only one game back from the lead currently. The Bears face a tough opponent in the Patriots next week, while the Vikings face a possible trap game on the road against the Jets. If the Lions manage to beat the Dolphins in Miami, there is a real chance that they could position themselves to possibly take lead of the North within a couple weeks, as long as they keep winning. We’ll see.
