It’s been a long seven months since the Detroit Lions hired Matt Patricia to be their new head coach. Patricia has had to deal with a scandal Matt Prater Jersey , an underwhelming free agency period, baseless rumors of losing the team, an uninspiring preseason followed up by two of the ugliest regular season games we’ve see this team play in years. But after Sunday’s night shocking victory over his former team—the seven-point favorite New England Patriots,—Patricia got the moment he’s been waiting for: His first career win as an NFL head coach. This would be an emotional moment for any new head coach, but this one, after already going through so many hardships, had to feel special. However, Patricia downplayed the moment in his post-game presser. “I’m just happy for the guys. I think they’re the ones that deserve it,” Patricia said Sunday night. “They’re the ones that have been working really hard and I’m glad they got an opportunity to enjoy this.”But it’s clear the feeling was mutual. The Detroit Lions caught video of the locker room celebration after the game, and the players clearly felt Patricia deserved the win as well. Check out this awesome moment after the game: First there’s the awkward high-five/handshake with Rod Wood, because... Rod Wood. Then there’s the emotional hug with fellow former Patriot and now Lions general manager Bob Quinn. Then the party is on with his team. T.J. Lang, Jamal Agnew, LeGarrette Blount and Ricky Jean Francois among many others just pile on top of Patricia like they were celebrating a division title. “Is this fun?” Patricia asked his team after the mob died down. “This is exactly what we needed, right? I’m so proud of you guys, I love ya. I believe in you Nevin Lawson Jersey , but we got to keep stacking these togethers, cause we gotta roll now.”Then Matthew Stafford presented Patricia with the game ball and another big hug. “I’m so proud of you, man,” Stafford can be heard saying in Patricia’s ear. Then coach breaks it down.“I love standing in front of you every single day now, and I appreciate it, and I count my blessings to be in this locker room right now. Keep working, keep digging, man. We got a long way to go, but we’re going to keep pushing.”So much for losing the team.Detroit Lions fans rank 30th in team confidence With the Detroit Lions sitting at 0-2 all by their lonesome in the NFC North, there are a lot of things to be concerned about. Why hasn’t the team looked more prepared out of training camp? What’s going on with Matthew Stafford? Is there a running back in this league that the Lions can stop? It’s been an ugly couple of weeks, and Lions fans are feeling it. Fan confidence is at a low, and the signs are everywhere. Earlier in the week, we saw Bob Quinn’s approval rating drop from 89 percent in May to just 26 percent this week. Now, let’s take a look at this week’s FanPulse results.Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across the NFL powered by SurveyMonkey. Each week Cheap Kerryon Johnson Jersey , we send 32 polls to 100+ plugged in fans from each team. Lions fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.Yikes. At this point, a mere 18 percent of Lions fans are confident in the team’s direction. Only the Cardinals (three percent) and Giants (16 percent) have lower fan confidence. Perhaps most interesting is not how low confidence is among Lions fans right now—obviously the team has looked bad thus far and an 0-2 start is well below expectations—but heading into the season, Lions fans had the lowest confidence of any fan base. Just 68 percent of fans were at least “somewhat confident” in the team’s direction heading into Week 1. For reference, the average confidence level was at 91.1 percent for the rest of the team blogs. The closest to the Lions’ low confidence was Hogs Haven (Washington, 76 percent), The Phinsider (Dolphins, 80 percent) and Silver and Black Pride (Raiders, 82). Of course, considering how flat the Lions came out in the preseason, that’s not completely surprising, but still, you’d think coming off a 9-7 season with a brand new head coach would be enough to keep Lions fans’ spirits higher than at least one other franchise. Still, the Lions’ play through two weeks has only verified fans’ skepticism. We’ll see if this week’s game against the Patriots changes any minds.
