Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was on the field Tuesday as minicamp got underway Ryan Callahan Jersey , but the knee brace he’d been wearing on his right leg in previous offseason practices open to the media was not.

There was no announcement that Watson was ditching the brace and coach Bill O’Brien professed surprise about the development when he spoke to the media later in the day.

“I don鈥檛 know. I didn鈥檛 notice that,” O’Brien said, via the team. “I鈥檓 sure that was cleared with the proper people. I鈥檓 not the brace doctor or the brace coach.”

Watson tore his ACL last November and has been doing 7-on-7 work at OTAs as he pushes to return to the lineup for the start of the regular season. Jets quarterback Sam Darnold supposedly may have a “fair chance” to become the Week One starter, but there’s no evidence on the team’s initial depth chart of the preseason to suggest that he’ll actually do it.

Darnold remains No. 3, behind Josh McCown at No. 1 Authentic Benoit Pouliot Jersey , and Teddy Bridgewater at No. 2.

None of this means Darnold won’t become the starter as soon as Week One. Maybe he will, and maybe the idea of starting out at No. 3 will add to his confidence if/when he climbs the ladder.
