Tim Tebow has been promoted to Double-A after going 1 for 18 with 11 strikeouts in big league spring training for the New York Mets.

The Mets said Wednesday that the outfielder has been assigned to start the season at Binghamton of the Eastern League. The Rumble Ponies open their season at home on April 5 against Portland.

The 30-year-old Tebow Shaq Mason Jersey , a former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback, split last season between a pair of Class A teams, Columbia Amara Darboh Jersey , South Carolina, and St. Lucie. He hit .226 with eight homers and 52 RBIs in 126 games.

Tebow, who is not on the Mets' 40-man major league roster Bronson Kaufusi Jersey , was hampered during spring training by a left ankle sprain.

The Saints will be without Mark Ingram for the first four weeks of the regular season and they are adding a veteran to the backfield to help carry the load.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Saints are signing Shane Vereen ahead of the start of their training camp.

Vereen spent the last three seasons with the Giants, running 139 times for 582 yards and catching 114 passes for 842 yards while scoring five overall touchdowns. He was a member of the Patriots for his first four NFL seasons and won a Super Bowl ring in his final year with the team.

The Saints also signed Terrance West after working out several backs last month and have Alvin Kamara, Boston Scott Adam Joseph Duhe Jersey , Trey Edmunds, Daniel Lasco and Jonathan Williams on the roster.
