BROOKLYN - Raptors iron man DeMar DeRozan will miss his first game in nearly two years when Toronto faces the Brooklyn Nets in an important Atlantic Division showdown on Monday. DeRozan, who did not make the trip to Brooklyn, sprained his left foot/ankle in Saturdays loss to the Clippers. X-rays were negative but there is no timetable for his return. The Raptors leading scorer sustained the injury early in the second quarter after coming down on the foot of Hedo Turkoglu. Slow to get up, DeRozan stayed in the game for just under seven minutes, also starting the third quarter before he hobbled to the locker room and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. "He wanted to see if he could go, but he couldnt," Dwane Casey said following Saturdays loss. "He tried, but just couldnt get going." DeRozan hadnt seen the play when he spoke to the media after the game and couldnt say whether or not the defender had malicious intent. He and Turkoglu exchanged words on the court shortly after the injury occurred. "He was asking me what happened," said the Raptors guard. "Whether I was alright, and if I thought he came under me or not." Since the Raptors selected him with the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, DeRozan has missed eight games in four-and-a-half seasons and just three since his rookie year. Seventh in the NBA in minutes played, DeRozan is averaging career-bests 21.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season. Already missing Landry Fields, who underwent a surgical procedure on his wrist last week, the Raptors will be shorthanded at the wing positions for however long DeRozan is out. With John Salmons playing through a sore back, its unlikely the 34-year-old will be able to absorb DeRozans minutes. Casey will undoubtedly lean on sophomore Terrence Ross, coming off a remarkable 51-point career game. DeRozans injury could create an opportunity for Steve Novak to find his way back into the rotation and Greivis Vasquez may see more time in the backcourt alongside Kyle Lowry, depending on the matchup. Patrick Patterson made the trip to Brooklyn and is expected to play Monday after taking a Blake Griffin elbow to the face and breaking his nose on Saturday. Tyler Hansbrough, who has missed 13 straight games with an ankle injury, is also with the team and will be a game-time decision. Presnel Kimpembe Jersey . -- Downcast before the final game of what had been a difficult road trip, the Ottawa Senators found a way to dig out a little momentum in the desert before heading home. Julian Draxler Jersey . Redden played a total of 1,023 regular-season games with Ottawa, the New York Rangers, St. Louis and Boston. He finished with 457 points (109 goals, 348 assists) and a plus-160 rating over his career. http://www.psgsoccershop.com/c-4-thiago-...-fc-jersey.aspx. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released veteran guard Davin Joseph, a mainstay on their offensive line over the past eight seasons. Kylian Mbappe Jersey . Make that, almost always subjective. Saturday at Carrow Road, the spirit of fair play trumped the rulebook, costing Norwich City three points. Kevin Trapp Jersey . -- At the beginning of training camp, Andrew Bogut set a goal to play all 82 regular-season games and regain his place among the NBAs best centres.Theres a disturbing trend happening this year in the National Hockey League - players are getting suspended for dangerous hits at an alarming level. Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals could be getting punished by the NHL Department of Player Safety after his hit Brayden Schenn on Tuesday night. Wilson has a hearing scheduled with the NHL for Thursday at Noon et. If NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan suspends him, that will make 10 suspensions in 11 days and 20 over two-and-a-half months of hockey so far this season. Not to mention the seven suspensions that were handed out in the pre-season. To make matters worse, it seems more players are getting carted off on stretchers this year than ever before. Players are just not getting the idea of what is legal and illegal. Or they just dont care. So what needs to be done for players to get the message and stop these sort of hits? They could make the suspensions harsher. Instead of giving David Clarkson and Dion Phaneuf just two games for their respected inciidents, how about sitting them down for five or more contests? Maybe the answer is to go after their wallets.dddddddddddd. To many NHL players, charging $2,000, $5,000 or even $10,000 is a drop in the bucket. If the league increased fines dramatically (say, six figures?), players would probably be outraged but they might also think twice about hitting a defenceless player from behind. Rules changes could be another option. Modifying the laws of fighting and hitting could work. But players dont seem to be getting the idea as it stands, so any minor tweaks or changes could be irrelevant. Then theres the thought of sidelining an offender for however long it takes for the victim to get cleared by doctors for game action. Now its also possible that little can be done to prevent said injuries and suspensions. Maybe the players have gotten too big, strong and fast to prevent this type of thing from happening. All that considered, what do you think needs to be done to prevent the rapid rate of dangerous hits in the NHL? As always, its Your! Call.
