CHICAGO - Given that the Chicago Bulls had key players coming back from injuries and newcomers trying to fit in, Joakim Noah figured there would be some difficult stretches. Wholesale China Jerseys .The Bulls are in one at the moment. The Central division leaders have dropped three of four after winning 13 of 15 heading into Wednesdays game against John Wall and the Washington Wizards. This is our story, Noah said. This is the journey. In the season, theres always going to be ups and downs. When theres adversity, people (are going to show) their true colours. Thats the way it is. And were going through something right now. We got to stick together and make it work. The injuries, the new guys — we can make excuses, but this is who we are, he continued. Its not going to change. So its on us to fix it or its not going to work. For the most part, it has worked quite well for the Bulls. At 26-13, they are one of the favourites in the Eastern Conference even though Rose is still working his way back after two season-ending knee injuries and Noah is still adjusting after off-season surgery on his left knee. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has also been slowed by a right ankle injury. That has not stopped the Bulls from dominating at times. The emergence of Jimmy Butler along with the addition of Pau Gasol gives Chicago one of the leagues deepest rotations.Even so, there are issues. The Bulls have allowed 100 or more points 18 times this season and are giving up just over 99 per game, after allowing a league-low 91.8 a year ago. They have also dropped seven games against teams with sub-.500 records, with five of those losses coming at home. Two were to Utah and Orlando during this 1-3 stretch. They also have shown times where theyve played great defence, coach Tom Thibodeau said Tuesday. So its in them. They did not show it against Orlando on Monday. The Bulls fell 121-114, with the Magic setting season highs for points and shooting (59 per cent) while snapping a six-game losing streak, and Thibodeau lit into the team afterward.Part of the problem is Noah still seems to be limited. He does not look as agile as he did last season and, at least on the surface, it appears he and Gasol have not quite meshed on the court the way the Bulls envisioned. There is more to it, though. You also have to ask whats happening with the ball? Thibodeau said. Its not just them. Its are we doing the proper things to direct the ball where it should go? Are the smalls coming at the bigs with speed? If we do go to help are we getting the proper support behind the ball?Thibodeau has trimmed Noahs minutes from 35.3 per game last season to 31. His rebounding is down from an average 11.3 to 9.6. But Thibodeau sees that knack for cleaning up on the glass returning and believes his game will be there at some point.Noah, meanwhile, wasnt about to make any excuses. He wasnt really interested in talking about the knee.Asked if he has been experiencing ups and downs with it, he answered no. Has there been a steady progression physically? Yes, he said.Ive just got to keep working, keep getting after it, he said. Im feeling better and better so Ive got to keep working. Listen to the game live on TSN Radio starting at 11:30am et/8:30am pt. And listen to Wayne Gretzky speak, as he joins the TSN Radio panel during the pre-game show. Canada will look for a fast start after three days off. The Latvians promise to play a similarly tight-checking style to Canadas last opponent, Finland, who was able to push their final preliminary round game to overtime before a Drew Doughty goal sealed a 2-1 victory. Doughty leads all Canadians in points with four goals and one assist through three games. He leads all defencemen in points at Sochi and trails just Phil Kessel, Michael Grabner and Alexander Radulov overall. Carey Price once again gets the start in net for Canada after stopping 14 of 15 shots against the Finns. His .943 save percentage is seventh among goalies that have made more than one start at the Olympics. Latvian netminder Edgars Masalskis has posted a .946 mark through three starts and has made more saves than any other Olympic goalie. Coach Mike Babcock once again rearranged his forward lines at practice on Tuesday hoping to ignite his forwards ahead of the playoff round. Pittsburgh Penguins teammates Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz have once again been reunited with Patrice Bergeron on the right side. Meanwhile, Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn has been placed alongside Anaheim Ducks duo Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry to form a menacing power forward trio. Martin St. Louis will dress for todays game after being a healthy scratch against Finland. He replaces Matt Duchene in the lineup and has been held off the score-sheet thus far in the tournament. "The reality is we dress 13 forwards each game," Babcock said. "One guy hardly gets on the ice. Its a hard, hard situation for people that play 22 minutes. Thats the way it is. Youve got to find a way to help out when you get a chance." P.K. Subban is also the odd men out. Dan Hamhuis will be the seventh defenceman, leaving Subban out of the lineup for the third time in four games. He played 11:41 minutes in Canadas 6-0 rout of Austria. "Hes a proud guy. And hes here and he doesnt get to dress," Babcock said of Subban. "Nobody is probably thrilled about that. Those are hard decisions that we make, and in the end theyve gott to live it. NFL Cheap China Jerseys. ." "That doesnt mean theyve got to like it. But youre here to be a good pro and a good teammate and as its not about me and its not him, its about Canada. As long as we all remember that, were fine." Latvia went 0-3 in Group C in the preliminary round, scoring just five goals combined against the Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland. The upstart Latvians are guaranteed their best-ever Olympic finish after surprising Switzerland 3-1 in the qualification playoff round. Lauris Darzins led the way for Latvia, scoring a pair against Switzerland, including the game-winner and the empty-netter that sealed the victory. This is Latvias first ever trip to the Olympic quarter-finals, having been eliminated in the preliminary round in 2006 and losing in overtime to the Czech Republic in the 2010 qualification playoffs. Canada and Latvia have met on only one prior occasion at the Olympics, with the Canadians winning an 11-0 blowout at the 1936 Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Latvias best-ever result against Canada at the mens level came at the 1997 IIHF World Championships where they earned a 3-3 draw. Latvia boasts just one NHL player in Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons. However, a number of their players have NHL experience including Oskars Bartulis, Kaspars Daugavins among others. Their most experienced NHL veteran is captain Sandis Ozolinsh, who played 875 career games between 1992-93 and 2007-08. A seven-time NHL All-Star, Ozolinsh was a Norris Trophy finalist in 1996-97 and won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 1995-96. "I know Sandis Ozolinsh played for me and helped me get to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final and hes their captain," Babcock said. "Theyre better as a sum than they are as parts." PHOENIX - Put Bill Belichick behind a microphone and hes C-SPAN — minus the information. Reid Ferguson Jersey .Pete Carroll is more like a Lifetime movie. Or, as defensive lineman Michael Bennett puts it, He has that Benjamin Button effect on everyone. The Super Bowl coaches approach their obligations to the public and media from opposite ends. Belichick, coaching for his fourth championship in New England, is dry, offers little to no insight and rarely makes anyone laugh. Carroll, looking for his second straight title, is a high-fiving, fist-bumping extrovert who started one of his news conferences this week with a welcoming, Whats up?!?Different styles have produced similar results, though.Belichick is making his sixth Super Bowl appearance as a head coach and his Patriots are as close as there is to a dynasty in the current NFL. Carrolls team is being mentioned as a possible dynasty, as well, and that notion will only gain steam if the Seahawks win Sunday and become the first back-to-back champions since, who else?, New England in 2003-04.Dissimilar as they are, they have both built their teams on a foundation of unflinching candour inside their locker and meeting rooms — a quality Carroll brings to some of his public speaking, but one that Belichick eschews. What you see on TV is what you get, pretty much, from the two, said Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner, who previously played for Carroll in Seattle. They have similarities too, though. Their football IQ is way up there. They are so different, but at the same time theyre the same. Thats why they both have succeeded at this level.Over his 15 years in New England, Belichick has made it increasingly difficult for anyone outside of Patriots Nation to love him. Nobody likes a boring cheater, and that is how hes sometimes portrayed. Its all summed up in his handling of the controversy of Super Bowl week — Deflategate — a subject he has refused to talk about since Saturday, when he held a news conference to deny wrongdoing and announce he was moving on. Were just focused on Seattle this week, hes said, repeating some version of that time and again.A much fuller picture of the coach was painted in the 2013 NFL Network production A Football Life, which gave an inside and genuinely absorbing look at the coach — miked up and behind the scenes during what turned out to be a disappointing 2009 season.Hard not to get choked up about it, Belichick said, barely controlling the tears as he toured his old stomping grounds, the old Giants Stadium, where he won his first two Super Bowl rings as New Yorks defensive co-ordinator. I spent a lot of hours in that room. One trait his old boss, Bill Parcells, turned into an art was figuring out how to get the most from each of his players by treating them individually. Its not a trait Belichick shares, at least in the sense that no one seems to get the Superstar Treatment in New England: High-priced cornerback Darrelle Revis got sent home one day for being late for a meeting. Jonas Gray ran for 201 yards in a win against Indianapolis but has barely been heard from again after showing up late for a meeting.Hes done a good job of treating everybody fairly, treating everybody the same, said Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich. If something goes wrong, he makes sure we know about it. Its all about knowing how to get the best out of everybody.Carroll does the same thing — just differently.Quirky as they come, he once said a book that guided many of his core philosophies was, The Inner Game of Tennis, a 1974 self-help manuscript by W. Timothy Callwey that is about finding the state of relaxed concentration that helps you play your best. Its also about tennis, but the stuff really resonated, Carroll said in an interview while he was coaching Southern California. In keeping with the touchy-feely theme, he has repeatedly made it clear this week that he respects the individuality of his players — from Richard Sherman, who is willing to speak on just about everything, to Marshawn Lynch, who doesnt want to talk about anything. The coachs willingness to bend, however, does not mean he deviates from the consistent routine he established when he came to Seattle after nine years at USC. Wednesdays are Competition Wednesdays. Thursdays are Turnover Thursdays. And so on.Hes got a philosophy he stays true to, said offensive line coach Tom Cable. For a lot of us whove coached a long time, weve been around a lot of great teachers, but their philosophies can go up and down. For him, hes the way he is every day.Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who hired Carroll back in 1997, then Belichick in 2000, called his former coach, pretty special to be around. A lot of fun.He feels he set Carroll back by not giving him the full control he wanted, and the owner adjusted his style when he made the next hire.Everyone benefited: Belichick and the Patriots — and Carroll and Seattle.Theres no big mystery to all this coaching success, Belichick insists. Its about players making the plays that your team needs to win, he said. I think as a coach, you want to make sure you dont screw that up.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.orgMicah Hyde Jersey . The mood in Seattle was electrified as the parade featuring the NFL champions began near the Space Needle and made its way to CenturyLink Field, the home of the team. At a ceremony inside the stadium, the team thanked its loyal followers -- the 12th Man -- capping a day of boisterous celebration that drew an estimated 700,000 revelers to Seattle. Patrick DiMarco Jersey . Riethers apparent stamp on Manchester United midfielder Adnan Januzaj during Saturdays Premier League match at Craven Cottage was missed by the match officials. A three-man panel of former referees reviewed the incident and all agreed that it was a sending-off offence. http://www.cheapbillsjerseysonline.com/ .com) - Mike Miller scored a season-high 21 points in a rare start and the Cleveland Cavaliers bounced back from their worst loss of the season with a 95-91 win over the Brooklyn Nets.It hasnt all been bad in Edmonton this year. Lost in the bedlam of the Eskimos 2-9 start to the season is quarterback Mike Reillys encouraging first year as a fulltime starter in the CFL. Through the first 11 games of the season, Reillys stats rank amongst the league leaders. His 19 touchdown passes are tied for third behind only Darian Durant and Henry Burris, and his 2,667 passing yards are fourth with Durant, Burris, and Travis Lulay ahead of him. Adding in rushing numbers and Reilly has accounted for 3,197 total yards on offence, second behind only Burris astounding 3,774. Injuries have sapped the numbers of some other usual suspect league leaders this year but the point is Reilly is right with those guys statistically in just his first year as a starter. The one stat he falls well behind in however is team wins. No other position is evaluated by victories more than the quarterback, so you could make the argument Reilly is woefully underperforming based on the most significant stat affixed to him thiss year: two, the number of wins hes led the Eskimos to through 12 weeks. Russell Bodine Jersey. But while there are no moral victories in professional sports, Reilly and the Esks have been close on at least a couple occasions. And, the tumult being well documented with the Eskimos this year, the 28-year-old Central Washington alum should get a pass for not being able to singlehandedly turn the team into a contender. After all hes a first-year starter still perfecting his three-down game and not a grizzled vet brought in to lead a culture change in Edmonton. That Reilly continues to compete and deliver, upholding his end of the bargain while not everyone around him does the same, is impressive in its own right. The Eskimos have a long list of things to do before theyre once again a contender in the West Division, but finding a franchise quarterback isnt one of them. The Rouge asks: Is Mike Reilly a franchise quarterback? Youve heard what weve had to say, now its your turn. As always, its Your! Call. MELBOURNE, Australia -- As three-time defending champion Novak Djokovic held the Australian Open trophy in a photo shoot before Fridays draw, he joked that having his fingerprints on it may in some way help him win the title for a fourth consecutive year. Kris Versteeg Jersey . The draw certainly didnt dent Djokovics chances, with top-seeded Rafael Nadal, No. 4 Andy Murray, No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro and No. 6 Roger Federer all stacked in the opposite half. Djokovics new coach, six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker, attended the draw and duly noted that Nadal, Federer and co were in "a loaded half, thats for sure." Djokovic, who is on a 24-match winning streak, opens against No. 90-ranked Lukas Lacko and potentially has a quarterfinal against Stanislas Wawrinka, who took him to 12-10 in the fifth set at the Australian Open last year. The bottom half of the draw also contains No. 3 David Ferrer, who lost in a semifinal upset at Auckland on Friday, and No. 7 Tomas Berdych. Djokovic conceded it was an advantage to avoid the other tournament favourites early but said: "Regardless of the draw, the potential opponents that I have in later rounds, I need to direct my attention to my next opponent. There are plenty of players who are able to win the Australian Open this year or any other Grand Slam title." On the womens side, top-ranked Serena Williams opens against Australian teenager Ashleigh Barty and has 2011 U.S. Open champion Sam Stosur and two-time finalist Li Na in her half. Two-time defending Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova are in the opposite half, meaning they could only meet Serena Williams in the final. The top half of the mens draw was the talking point, starting with Nadals first-round match against Australian Bernard Tomic. "I think thatll be a night match, for sure," Becker quipped. "But a tough, tricky one for both players. Tomic will certainly have the home support." Nadal missed last years Australian Open with a left knee injury during a seven-month absence from the tour. He returned to win 10 titles in 2013 and regain the No. 1 ranking, overhauling Djokovic in October. Tomic reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2011 and has been ranked as high as No. 27. His only previous meeting with Nadal resulted in a straight-sets defeat in the third round of the 2011 Australian Open. Nadal also has No. 25 Gael Monfils, former No. 1-ranked Lleyton Hewitt and 16th-seeded Kei Nishikori in his section. Federer opens against Australian wildcard entry James Duckworth and Murray takes on Go Soeda of Japan. Likely quarterfinals on that half would feature Nadal against del Potro and Federer against Murray. Del Potro was due to play the final of the Sydney International against Tomic on Saturday. In the bottom half of the womens draw, Azarenka faces Johanna Larsson of Sweden in the first round, while Sharapova takes on American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and could face former No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals and Azarenka in the semis. Stosur, Australias only seeded player at No. 17, opens against Czech Klara Zakopalova. On Friday, Zakopalova beat Stosur 6-3, 6-2 in the Hobart International semifinals. Frederik Andersen Jersey . Spencer Abbott and Trevor Smith scored third-period goals erasing a 2-1 deficit giving Toronto a late 3-2 lead.Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Andy Dalton had one touchdown through the air and one on the ground and the Cincinnati Bengals held on for a 14-13 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Dalton also had three interceptions and went 19-for-27 for just 176 yards as the Bengals (8-3-1) went 3-0 during a three-game road swing to stay atop the AFC North. Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Baltimore all lost on Sunday to sit in a three-way tie in the division with marks of 7-5. Josh McCown went 15-for-29 for 190 yards with an interception, and Doug Martin had a rushing touchdown for the Buccaneers (2-10), who have dropped their past two games and fell to 0-6 at home this season. Trailing by three, Cincinnati went on top for the first time in the game on its second touch of the second half. Facing 3rd-and-6, Dalton connected with James Wright for 12 yards to move the chains, and Dalton converted another third down later in the drive with a 15- yard connection to Mohamed Sanu. That moved the ball to the Tampa 15, and two plays later Dalton found A.J. Green in the end zone for a 13-yard score and a 14-10 lead with 2:04 to play in the third. The Bengals then went for on an onsides kick, but the Buccaneers recovered to give themselves excellent field position and the Bengals 31. They only moved seven yards, though, and a 42-yard field goal from Patrick Murray made it a one-point game early in the fourth. After five straight punts, the Buccaneers got one last chance at their own 20 with 2:01 to play. Mike Evans caught an 8-yard pass on 3rd-and-3 to move the chains, and a short catch by Bobby Rainey was turned into a 29-yard gain down to the Bengals 36. An exchange of penalties left the Bucs in a 1st-and-15 with 38 seconds left. After an incomplete pass, McCown connected with Louis Murphy for 21 yards to the Cincinnati 20 and the team hurried to the line of scrimmage with the clock winding down. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis threw the challenge flaag to get the attention of the referee, but all replays inside of two minutes have to be initiated by the officiating crew, who wound up looking over the play and determined that Tampa Bay had 12 men on the field, nullifying the play and leaving the team with a 2nd-and-20 at the Cincinnati 46. Tie Domi Jersey. McCowns next two passes fell incomplete, and Evans catch on fourth down came up well short of the first down marker as the Bengals held on for the win. The first snap of the game saw Dalton picked off by Jonathan Banks, who returned the ball 32 yards to the Cincinnati 9. Cincinnatis defense, though, held the Buccaneers, who came away with just three points off a Murray 32-yard field goal 2 1/2 minutes into the game. The next several drives ended in punts, but Tampa Bay had the ball in Cincinnati territory to start the second quarter, and went on top when Martin bulled his way in from seven yards out for a 10-0 lead three minutes in. On the ensuing drive, the Bengals got into the red zone, but Dalton had a pass picked off in the end zone by Brandon Dixon. The Buccaneers went nowhere after the turnover and had to punt, with the Bengals getting the ball back at their own 36. After crossing midfield and facing a 1st-and-10 at the Tampa 38, Dalton lateraled to his left for Sanu, who tossed a pass back to his right for an 11-yard gain by Green. A 14-yard run from Giovani Bernard got the ball down to the Tampa 6, and two plays later, Dalton faked a handoff to Bernard and kept the ball himself for a 5-yard score with 1:08 to play in the half. Game Notes Bernard had 49 yards on 10 carries, while teammate Jeremy Hill had 40 yards on 13 carries ... Martin finished the game with 58 yards on 18 touches ... The weather finally seems to be improving, at least to the point that there has been no snow, and the County Championship is just starting to get into full flow. Logan Stanley Jersey . It was draws galore, though, with Kent the only side in either division able to secure a win in week four but there have still been plenty high class performances and players from across the country staking their claim to be included in our County Championship team of the week.Do you agree with our XI? Leave a comment below or tweet us @SkyCricket... Daniel Bell-Drummond (Kent) The Kent opener has started the season in fine form and played a key role in his sides comprehensive 10-wicket win over Glamorgan at Canterbury. A knock of 84 in the first innings as Kent racked up 488 and a lead of 228, was followed by an unbeaten 86 in the second. Bell-Drummond and Tom Lathams stand of 190 steering Kent over the line on day four.Alastair Cook (Essex) The England captain looks to be in fine fettle heading into Englands Test series with Sri Lanka next month, live on Sky Sports, and brought up his third century of the summer on day two of Essexs draw at Worcestershire. After losing opening partner Nick Browne early on, Cook put on 222 for the second wicket with Tom Westley and was eventually the sixth wicket to fall, having made 142.Competition for the opening spots was fierce with Brett DOliveira of Worcestershire, Northants Jake Libby, Leicestershires Paul Horton, Chris Nash of Sussex, Somersets Marcus Trescothick, Chesney Hughes of Derbyshire and Hampshire left-hander Michael Carberry all unfortunate to miss out having made centuries.Alex Lees (Yorkshire) He opened for Yorkshire but Alex Lees will have to make do with the No 3 spot in our team after an impressive showing for Yorkshire against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. After top-scoring with 92 for Jason Gillespies side in the first innings, the 23-year-old left-hander added his eighth first-class century in the second as Yorkshire made a late charge for victory. He eventually fell for 107 by which time he had shown, in front of the Sky Sports cameras, exactly what he is capable of.James Hildreth (Somerset) Batting at four for Somerset, Hildreth could only watch from the non-strikers end as James Anderson ripped through his sides middle order with three wickets in five balls. That left his side rocking at 102-5, just shy of 400 runs behind Lancashires first innings total. However, Hildreth (130) held the innings together and was eventually the last man out having guided his team to 313. A total that enabled Somerset to hold out for a draw on the final day.Jack Burnham (Durham) It was a game dominated by the batsmen for long periods at the Oval and one player who took advantage more than most was Burnham. The 19-year-old hit a career-best 135, his maiden first class century, and was involved in a 145-run partnership with Scott Borthwick (77). His runs helped Durham build up a sizeable first innings lead and, although the game ended in a draw, it allowed them to push on in search of victory on the final day.Liam Livingstone (Lancashire) Playing in just his second first class match, Livingstone recorded his first ton, making 108 not out as Lancashire made 493-9 declared in their first innings against Somerset. Having scored 70 on his County Championship debut against Nottinghamshire, Livingstone again showed that he is capable of successfully implementing his aggressive batting style in the longer-format of the game, as he hit nine fours and two sixes in his unbeaten knock.Chris Read (Nottinghamshire) The Nottinghamshire captain played his part in a dramatic final day at Trent Bridge, scoring a superb 101 as his side set Yorkshire 320 to win. Read made just five in the first innings but coming in with Notts struggling at 98-5 in the second innings, he dragged his side up to 348 before becoming the final wicket to fall. A partnership of 53 with Samit Patel had eased the hosts concerns before a century stand with Stuart Broad took them out of danger and put them on the front foot. The wicketkeeper also did his bit with the gloves, taking four catches.Ryan McLaren (Hampshire) The South African was on form with both bat and ball for Hampshire in their draw with Middlesex. He took 4-74 in his 24 overs in Middlesexs first innings and then backed it up with a valuable 46 not out in Hampshires second. His unbeaten 104 partnership with Adam Wheater helped the hosts build a large enough lead to declare and press for victory on day four at the Ageas Bowl.Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire) There was already talk of Ball being a future England bowler but after his showing against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge, live on Sky Sports, calls for the fast bowler to join up with Cooks side will only grow in volume and veracity. The Nottinghamshire bowler ripped through the much-vaunted Yorkshire top order, removing both Adam Lyth and Gary Ballance as well as Joe Root for a golden duck. He ended the first innings with figures of 4-57 and took another three wickets in the second - again dismissing Lyth and Root, with the crucial wicket of Jonny Bairstow his final scalp.Mitchell Claydon (Kent) Kent were in complete control from the very first over of the match against Glamorgan and Claydon ensured - with both bat and ball - that they never lost that advantage. The seamer was the pick of the Kent bowlers in Glamorgans first innings, taking 4-59, and then did his bit with the bat, scoring 55 from 54 balls as they built up a significant first innings lead. Claydon had slightly less success with the ball in the second innings but still picked up two wickets, including the important scalp of centurion David Lloyd who had successfully frustrated Kent for much of day three.Jack Brooks (Yorkshire) Of the bowlers on show at Trent Bridge, the up-and-coming Ball may have taken the majority of the plaudits after taking seven wickets in the match but Brooks, a more experienced campaigner, matched that total and was equally impressive. The Yorkshire seamer picked up the wickets of three of Nottinghamshires top four on the opening day, as well as that of second innings century-maker Chris Read. He added another three wickets in the second innings to end with match figures of 7-143. Also See: CC Div One table CC Div Two table Domestic fixtures/results Get Surrey tickets! Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan and Han Yan of China collided full speed at centre ice and both were left lying on the ice holding their heads while they tried to get up and the medics tried to reach them. Both were helped off the ice and attended to and the warmup was stopped to give shocked officials and the other competitors a chance to regroup before it was restarted. Hanyu and Yan were examined by doctors who found no concussion symptoms. Both elected to skate and, while they struggled valiantly, the toll of the crash was obvious in their performances. It looks unlikely that Hanyu and Yan will be ready for their next Grand Prix events as Yan is due up next week in France and Japanese officials have said that Hanyu, who is at home in Sendai recovering, will be off for 2-3 weeks which is when he is due to compete in Japan at the NHK Trophy. We saw the skaters resolve and determination in China so stay tuned. The unlikely may happen. With his second place finish, Hanyu is still in the running for the Grand Prix Final in December and his next competition is on home ice so his motivation to compete will be strong. The bright light for Team Canada in China was the performance of 16-year-old Nam Nguyen, who continued to show remarkable composure and consistency in his second outing on the Senior Circuit. He was the first competitor to take the ice after the unsettling warmup and once again stepped up big time, nailing another quadruple jump and delivering a virtually clean skate. His only error came when he singled a planned triple axel but, showing a focus and confidence beyond his years, he added it later in the program in combination with a triple toe loop. Not only was it a smart calculation by Nam, it was a risky move that only a handful of skaters in the world would be capable of. He finished fourth overall to add to his surprise bronze medal win at Skate America. Interesting to note that Nam just started trying and landing his quad this summer and is 3-for-3 in competition this season. Quite remarkable. He is young and still growing so lacks the power of some of the top guys but what he has shown us so far this season, his love of performing and ability to pull in top technical scores, is that he is heading down a path that is reminiscent of some of the Canadian legends in the sport. As expected, the Russian ladies continued to dominate in China but what was a surprise was that it was not Olympic team gold medalisst Julia Lipnitskaya who was the eventual winner, it was her teammate Elizaveta Tuktamysheva who stole the show. Blake Wheeler Jersey. Where Julia fell completely apart in the free skate, calling it my worst skate ever!, Elizaveta delivered an ambitious and engaging long program. She is, for many, the sentimental favourite when it comes to picking among the deep pool of young Russian talent. We watched her rise to prominence as a 14-year-old, only to have it slip away as the Olympics approached due to a maturing body which resulted in inconsistent jumps. In 2011-2012, the Russian golden girl became a Sochi spectator and this summer, her quest became a personal one about getting back to where she once was. Well, she has done that, and then some. Her triples are technically as good as they come. They are light and springy, and clean and controlled. Her performances now have soul. There is a heartfelt emotion that was not there previously. As the saying goes, you dont know what youve got till its gone, and Elizaveta knows what she lost and one can see the triumph of having it back written all over her face. With the win in China and a silver at Skate America, she has earned a spot at the Grand Prix final where, at only 17, she will likely be the elder statesmen in what is shaping up to be a very young field. Also in the ladies event in China, we got our first look at the 16-year-old Canadian silver medalist Gabrielle Daleman on the senior circuit. She finished in a respectable fifth place but was in a virtual tie for fourth (.01 back) in a tough field. Gabby has both the jumping arsenal to contend and the determined focus to attack and deliver. I like what I saw from her in China on her first time out at this level this season and while her face in the kiss and cry said that she did not like the results, she is in the game and, with a little fine tuning, can get the scores shes hoping for. We are now at the halfway point of the Grand Prix season and this is where the spots for the final (six in each discipline) will begin to be locked up. Canadians are strongest in the pairs and dance this season and are on target to qualify two teams in the dance and one in the pairs. Our attention turns to Russia this weekend and the Rostelecom Cup. Canada has only a couple of entries but the Russians of course will be out in full force, except for Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova who is now out due to injury. In the renaissance that is Russian skating, it will be fun to watch some of their new teams in both the pairs and dance as they jostle for prominence in the early stages of this Olympic quadrennial. "The people who decided his performance warranted this compensation are the same people who are paying it, the 32 team owners," Ganis added. Moeen Ali hit a brilliant unbeaten 155 as England assumed complete control of the second Investec Test against Sri Lanka on day two in Durham. Wholesale Buccaneers Jerseys China . Having been dropped on 36 early in the morning session, the No 7 took full advantage and piled on the runs as England eventually declared on 498-9 in the afternoon session. From there the bowlers took over and reduced Sri Lanka to 91-8, still 407 behind, at stumps, with Chris Woakes taking 3-9 in seven overs. Moeen Ali celebrates his 150 at Durham Having started the day on 310-6, England had some good fortune as both Ali and Woakes were given early lifelines.First, Ali sent a thick edge to Dimuth Karunaratne at gully off the bowling of Nuwan Pradeep before a regulation edge from Woakes was completely missed by Dinesh Chandimal behind the stumps - Shaminda Eranga the disbelieving bowler. The pair made Sri Lanka pay for their slackness in the field and had put 92 for seventh wicket, Ali going past 50, before Suranga Lakmal had Woakes (39) caught behind.Broad (7) followed - nicking Pradeep through to the keeper - but with Ali going well, England reached lunch at 408-8 and kicked on again after the interval.Having nurdled his way through the nineties, Ali brought up his second Test century with a lofted drive over mid-off for four and continued in much the same vein thereafter. Steven Finn (10) provided steady support from the other end before topping edging a Rangana Herath delivery straight up; the left-arm spinner took the return catch to claim his 300th Test wicket but was brought back down to earth as No 11 James Anderson promptly reverse swept him for four.Ali launched Lakmal for six over midwicket to bring up his 150 and the declaration came soon after with England two shy of 500.Sri Lankas openers were left with half an hour to navigate before tea but they were unable to see it through; Anderson bowling Karunaratne behind his legs.Kaushal Silva and Kusal Mendis kept the runs flowing at a decent rate after tea but a fine low catch from Jonny Bairstow broke their 34-run stand after Broad had found Silvas edge. Chris Woakes enjoyed an excellent spell, taking 3-9 Anderson (2-31) then nicked out Chandimal - Alastair Cook taking the catch at first slip - and a superb spell from Woakes left Sri Lanka in the mire at 67-6.The Warwickshire all-rounder hit his areas and had Angelo Mathews and Milinda Siriwardana caught behind with Mendis edging a rising delivery to Anderson at gully in between.Lahiru Thirimanne and Herath dug in for a spell but Broad (3-35) returned to dismiss the latter; Anderson taking another sharp catch at gully and a brilliant one-handed catch from Joe Root - reacting after James Vince was unable to hold on at full stretch - later in the same over did for Eranga, rounding off a near-perfect day for England.Watch day three of the second Investec Test from 10.30am, Sunday, Sky Sports 2. Now, after a stunning run in Melbourne, Stanislas Wawrinka has a new nickname: The Stanimal — a tribute to his gritty, fight-until-the end style of tennis. Fittingly, perhaps, the name was apparently coined by none other than Roger Federer, in a tweet of support for his friend which quickly caught on earlier in the tournament. Now that Federer is out of the running — he lost to Nadal in the semifinals — the 17-time Grand Slam winner and long-time ambassador for Swiss tennis has joined those cheering for Wawrinka to win his first Grand Slam final. It is a match that holds historical significance for all three players. If the No. 1-ranked Nadal wins, as the odds suggest he will, the 27-year-old Spaniard will become the first player to win each of the majors twice in the Open era. It would be his 14th Grand Slam trophy and bring him one step closer to Federers all-time record of 17. If No. 8-ranked Wawrinka beats Nadal to win his first major title, he catapults to a career high of No. 3 in the rankings. Just reaching the final assures Wawrinka of the No. 5 spot, meaning for the first time he will pass Federer, who is now ranked sixth. On the eve of the final, Wawrinka said he was still shocked by his success. "Its insane. Its incredible," the 28-year-old Wawrinka said Saturday, speaking to reporters in English and in his native French. "I never imagined that one day I would be here, playing in the final." After a breakthrough year in 2013, Wawrinka is playing the best tennis of his life in Melbourne. He knocked out three-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic inn the quarterfinals and beat No. Caleb Benenoch Jersey. 7 Tomas Berdych in the semifinals. He knows how tough it will be to beat Nadal — hes tried and failed 12 times. "Ive played him so many times, and lost so many times, but Im going to try again," Wawrinka said. "I know what I have to do. I know that I have to play aggressive, serve really well, and try to always push him." "Im playing my best tennis here," Wawrinka added. "Physically, Im ready.". Nadal says hes ready, too, for a breakthrough at what he calls his unluckiest Grand Slam. Nadal won in Melbourne in 2009 but in subsequent years struggled with injuries during or before the seasons first major. He missed the 2013 Australian Open during a seven-month layoff for illness and a knee injury. He returned to win the French and U.S. Open last year but reaching the final in Melbourne holds special significance. "After missing last year for me its really, really emotional to be back on this court, Rod Laver Arena, and to be able to play another final," said Nadal, who has known Wawrinka since they were teens, playing junior tournaments in Europe. "Hes a good friend, a great guy. Im so happy for him that hes in the final. He deserves it," Nadal said. "I know it will be a very, very tough match." Wawrinkas other longtime friend, Federer, had hoped Sundays story would be about an all-Swiss final. But after losing the latest installment of the Federer-Nadal rivalry, hes cheering for Wawrinka. "I hope he wins, and I hope he gives everything he has," Federer said. "Theres no reason not believe that he can beat Rafa." "Stans in his first Grand Slam final, so that makes Stan also unpredictable. Hes got to use that to his advantage." BEREA, Ohio -- Jason Campbell didnt get passed over a second time. Denzel Valentine Jersey . Hes all Cleveland has left. Campbell is finally getting a chance to start at quarterback for the reeling Browns, who are turning to the veteran to settle things down and save a season thats beginning to spin out of control. Browns coach Rob Chudzinski benched ineffective starter Brandon Weeden and will go with Campbell on Sunday against the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs. Campbell is the third QB to start for Cleveland already this season and the 20th -- the most in the NFL -- since 1999 for the Browns, who have spent their entire expansion era searching for an on-field leader. Campbell started just one game last season and knows he may have some rust to knock off. "Go get some 40-W, EW-40 or something like that," Campbell joked, searching for the name of the well-known lubricant. "I just want to go have fun and play, and well see what happens." With Weeden coming off poor performances in losses to Detroit and Green Bay, Chudzinski decided to switch to Campbell, who was leapfrogged earlier this season by Brian Hoyer. When Weeden sprained his right thumb in Week 2 against Baltimore, Chudzinski picked Hoyer, who was No. 3 on Clevelands depth chart, over Campbell to start against Minnesota. Hoyer led the Browns (3-4) to wins over the Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals before his season ended in the first quarter Oct. 3 against Buffalo. But Weedens struggles, coupled with a perceptible loss of faith by Clevelands offensive players, left Chudzinski with little choice but to start Campbell. "Its a tough decision," Chudzinski said. "I believe that this is in the best interest of the team, ultimately, and gives us the best chance to win. Im excited to see what Jason will do with this opportunity." Campbell is pumped, too. But talk about a brutal assignment. The undefeated Chiefs not only have one of the NFLs top defences -- they lead the league with 35 sacks -- but play in rowdy Arrowhead Stadium. "They are No. 1 in third down, No. 1 in the red zone and No. 1 in points allowed, so it is definitely a challenge," said Campbell, who signed with the Browns as a free agent in March. "Arrowhead is one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL, and that means even more we need to be on the same page." Weedens fate was sealed after Sundays 31-13 loss against the Packers. He completed just 17 of 42 passes for 149 yards with one touchdown and one interception, a 48.6 rating. He dropped to 0-4 as a starter. His 66.5 rating is 30th overall, and hes 32nd in completion percentage. The second-year QB, who must have known his demotion was coming after Chudzinski failed to offer his support Monday, politely declined to speak with reporters at his locker. "Im not going today, guys," he said. Now, the question is whether Weeden, barring an injury, will ever play for Cleveland again. Chudzinski said his decision to switch to Campbell was based on "consistency and production." The nine-year veteran has made 71 career starts. The coach would not commit to the 31-year-old Campbell beyond this week. "I think that looking at Jason and the things that he brings to the table, leadership, his experience, hes been productive and hes been successful in the league," Chudzinski said. "I think when you look at his arm strength and you look at his mobility and some of those things, and tie it into as far as a game plan standpoint, its what we feel like we need for this game and gives us the best chance." Cleveland fans have been clamouring for Weeden to be pushed aside, but Chudzinski said the lack of support was not a factor in making another change. While Weedens demotion didnt surprise many Browns players, wide receiver Davone Bess said blaming him for the teams struggles isnt fair. "Thats the easiest thing to say, that something had to be done and we had to pretty much make a switch," he said. "We know weve got a lot of work to do and its not just one person, starting with Brandon. We all have some accountability to own up to, and thats the nature of this business." NOTES: According to STATS, the Packers and Patriots have had a league-low three starting QBs since 99. The league average is 11.3. ... WR Josh Gordon has grown tired of trade rumours. With the deadline set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Gordon wishes it was past. "I honestly wish if it was going to happen, I wish it would happen already instead of dragging on," he said. "If a trade offer came in and thats what the Browns want to do, so be it. If not, then let it be known this is where Im going to be." ... Browns S Tashaun Gipson said he texted Packers TE Jermichael Finley, who suffered a bruised spinal cord in Sundays game on a hit by Gipson. "I just wanted to keep him in high spirits, wish him well, wish him a speedy recovery," Gipson said. Custom Chicago Bulls Jerseys . TORONTO – Under the strain of a no. Nike NFL Jerseys For Sale . 1 gig in the NHL for the very first time, Jonathan Bernier has learned that its best to do little with off-nights from the grueling schedule, condensed as it is in an Olympic year. "I go home and watch TV and just rest," he said with a smile. "But thats what you need to do to be successful. Thats what Im going to do." And thats precisely what the Maple Leafs need him to do. Outside of the incomparable Phil Kessel, no player means more to Torontos fortunes down the stretch and into a hopeful postseason run than the 25-year-old between the pipes. Freed from the shadows of Jonathan Quick, Bernier has shined brilliantly in his first go-around as an NHL starter, minding the fort on most nights in front of a poor defensive team. The Laval, Quebec native ranks sixth in save percentage amongst goaltenders with at least 30 starts, this despite facing more shots than anyone but Mike Smith – Smith, of course, making nine more starts. Whether Bernier has the juice to maintain such a performance down the stretch could very well determine his teams fate. Though theyve scored in droves all year, the Leafs have also struggled badly to defend, requiring Bernier to fend off a barrage of 35, 40 and sometimes 50 shots against on many nights. His efforts have rarely wavered in spite of the workload. Berniers best month in terms of save percentage was October when he posted a sterling .933 mark, his worst coming more recently in January with a still respectable .916 showing. The Leafs – who allow a league-high of more than 36 shots per game – would not be on the firm ground of a playoff spot currently without such feats. "I knew my biggest challenge this year was going to be consistency," he told the Leaf Report, "to be good every night and hopefully, once in a while, be great and steal a few games for your team. Thats my main goal, to be good every night and give a chance to my team to win. But thats hard. When you havent played that much (as a starter) you feel tired a lot more than you are usually so its more like a grind mentally to push yourself to be better every day and work hard in practice. "Why (Henrik) Lundqvist is known as the best is hes going to be good every night and hes going to be great once in a while. Thats how you become the best is consistency. You can have one good year and then youre not going to be the best because youve got to prove it over and over. Thats what makes you a great player." Not since the 2009-10 season has Bernier played anywhere near this many games (40 starts) and that was when he was a Manchester Monarch in the AHL. His performance then was eye-catching. Then just 21, he posted a league-leading .936 save percentage during the regular season – Nathan Lawson was second at .922 – raising his level even higher in the playoffs with a .939 mark that again topped every one of his Calder Cup counterparts. All of which makes his performance this season if not surprising then reaffirming of the promise he showed early and often as a highly-touted prospect in the Kings organization. The question lingering now is whether he can continue to perform down the stretch or whether the strain of a sometimes painstaking load in Toronto will prove too much to bear. It will be worthwhile testing ground for the 11th pick in the 06 draft and could ultimately decide the Leafs fate this season. They remain a bad defensive team even with his heroics, ranking fifth to last in goals against. If he falters theres every chance they too falter as well (James Reimer lurks in the background in that case as a proven, if not unused, alternative). Bernier was on point in the final lead-up to the 18-day Olympic stoppage, but was scuffed up in his first two starts afterward, yielding nine goals combined in overtime losses to the Islanders and Canadiens. Off-nights like that will challenge the Leafs playoff push. Theyve required great goaltending to get to this point and will need more of the same in the final 20 games, the bulk of which Bernier is in line to start. Bernier for his part is doing what he can to remain sharp in the final leg of the regular season race. Earlier this season he noted that perhaps the greatest challenge of reassuming control of no. 1 duties is the mental focus required each and every night through an exhausting schedule, not simply the physical wear and tear associated with the job. "Its all about rest and feeling good about yourself and making sure you eat properly, you rest, you sleep good," he said. "Those are the things that are going to get you through a full season to be mentally sharp." Ambition is certainly high for Bernier. He wants to be great and the Leafs, at this stage, need him to be great, gambled when they acquired him that he could be great. "I dont want to look too far ahead," he said, "but my goal is to be the best I can be. Its going to take a few years to get that name (for myself) … but right now Im going day by day and enjoying to play games. Thats what Ive been waiting for and it feels good." Her ranking plunged to 166th in the world in June, and she had struggled to rebuild her career after having right wrist surgery the previous August. Now shes glad she stuck around. Pennetta routed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-1 on Sunday in the BNP Paribas Open to win the biggest title of her career. "After so many years, so much work and everything, this is the moment I always waited for," she said. "And its coming when you dont expect. It was something I was waiting since long time, and finally I have a good trophy in my hands." Actually, the crystal trophy was so heavy, she didnt hoist it for photographers. The 32-year-old Italian became the third-oldest winner of the desert tournament after Martina Navratilova, who won at age 33 and again at 34 in 1990-91. It was Pennettas first title since winning at Marbella in 2010. "We are old, but we still good athletes," Pennetta said. "We are strong. We have so many years on the tour, and we know how to handle the emotion and everything." Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer resumed their long rivalry in the mens final later in the day. As the 20th seed, Pennetta became the lowest seed to win the title. She came in ranked 21st and is projected to rise to No. 12 in the world Monday in the WTA Tour rankings. She beat top-seeded Li Na in the semifinals on her way to winning the title worth $1 million. The green-white-and-red Italian flag fluttered in the breeze from the stands as Pennetta ran to hug her team. She got doused by a bottle of water from Italian mens player Fabio Fognini in celebration. "It was hot, so it was good," she said, smiling. Radwanska, seeded second, was bothered with a left knee injury during the final. She twice calleed for the trainer in the second set and had her knee heavily taped. Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys Store. She was in tears apologizing to the sympathetic crowd afterward, saying she was unable to run. "I had the tape stronger and stronger every changeover," Radwanska said. "I thought that going to help, but not really. Didnt work." It equaled the most one-sided womens final in the tournaments 26-year history. Maria Sharapova lost just three games in beating Elena Dementieva in 2006, and Lindsay Davenport dropped three games in defeating Irina Spirlea in 1997. "This one is one of the best tournaments in the world," Pennetta said. "Its mine today." Pennetta threatened from the first game of the match, when she held two break points and had one more in the third game. She finally converted in the fifth game on Radwanskas errant backhand, then broke again in the seventh game on the Poles forehand error. Pennetta won the final five games to wrap up the first set, 6-2. Radwanska held for a 1-0 lead in the second before she got the trainer on court and Pennetta called for her coach. Pennetta staved off a break point to hold at 1-1, the last challenge Radwanska offered before it became evident she wasnt herself. Radwanska said she hurt her knee a few days ago in practice. "I just didnt expect it was going to be much worse today," she said. "But when the pain is so big that nothing is working -- no painkillers, no tape -- that means it is bad." Pennettas lob over Radwanska, who didnt even try to go after it, helped her earn the break and a 2-1 lead. The Italian swept the last six games, with Radwanska ending the match on three consecutive errors. She earned $500,000. Pennettas previous biggest title came at Los Angeles in 2009, a Premier-level event that no longer exists. TORONTO -- On a day when Julio Cesar essentially said farewell to Toronto FC, fellow goalie Joe Bendik opted not to talk to the media. Andrew Luck Jersey . Perhaps he was ceding the day to the Brazilian No. 1, one reporter surmised. A day later, Bendik came clean. Chatting with journalists had conflicted with his tee time Tuesday. The 25-year-old American keeper, who shot a round of 79, comes with a certain amount of swagger. That ego took a jolt when, after winning Torontos No. 1 job in 2013, Bendik lost his starting role in pre-season to Cesar. "A hit to my pride today but luckily Ive got tons of it! Going to take in everything I can from a top shelf gk (goalkeeper) to better my abilities," Bendik tweeted, with a colourful adjective before tons, when Cesars signing was announced in February. Three months later, Bendik is back as Torontos No. 1. Cesar has left the club for the World Cup and is not expected back, with Englands Queens Park Rangers looking to cut short the loan agreement with MLS. Bendik says he is a better goalie for having spent time with the 34-year-old Cesar. "He did things for my career that I couldnt do over 20 years, probably," said Bendik, his post-practice calendar apparently a littler clearer Wednesday. "Just to see him play, see his professionalism was amazing. "Now I have to step in and start to play some games and continue what I did last year. And continue what Ive done the last three games." Cesar gave way to Bendik for both legs of the Amway Canadian Championship semifinal against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Bendik also played in Saturdays 2-0 league win over the New York Red Bulls when Cesar was laid low by the flu. Bendik came to Toronto in a December 2012 trade with Portland. The Timbers got forward Ryan Johnson and goalie Milos Kocic in exchange for Bendik, the third overall pick in the 2013 SuperDraft and allocation money. At the time, the goalie component of the deal seemed like a swap of backups with Bendik taking over for Kocic -- who believed he should have been No. 1 in Toronto -- behind the oft-injured Stefan Frei. But when Frei was injured in the first pre-season game in Florida in 2013, Bendik took over and started 33 games for Toronto. Frei was traded to Seattle at the end of the season and Bendik was rewarded with a new contract. When he heard Cesar was coming to Toronto, Bendik said he knew it could go "either amazing or terrible. Luckily its amazing." It helped that inside the team, word was that Cesar was likely going after the World Cup. Rather than being left out in the cold, Bendik knew in essence that he was having an extended training camp -- while having the opportunity to learn from one of the best goalies in the world. It was no coincidence that Nelsen, praising Bendik after he helped Toronto win a penalty shootout in the Amway Canadian Championship, said he would not be surprised to see his young keeper earn a call-up to the U.S. national team after the World Cup. Cesar was moving on. Bendik was back. For Nelsen, the Cesar acquisition was always a marriage of convenience with a short timeline. Cesar needed a place to play ahead of the World Cup and QPR wanted some salary relief. Toronto got a world-class goalie, a tutor for Bendik and the invaluable publicity of seeing Toronto FC by the name of Brazils goalkeeper at the World Cup. Having Cesar around would also help settle fellow Brazilians Gilberto and Jackson. Plus the short-term nature of the relationship means that the club will have some salary cap space come the summer. It was win-win. "Its benefited the league, its benefited the club and its benefited every single player here at Toronto," Nelsen said. It helped that Cesar, like Englands Jermain Defoe and American Michael Bradley, was a good citizen with an ego seemingly in check. They may be stars, but they dont act like it. Cesar met the media only periodically in Toronto. But he was always relaxed when he did, his arm invariably around translator Daniel Correia. "Thats Nellie," Bendik said, referring to Nelsen. "I think his No. 1 prerequisite is you have to be a good guy. You have to be a character in the locker-room. If youre not, he doesnt really care for it." Cesars relaxed way was infectious. Bendik, for one, says the Brazilians message was to let mistakes go, to look ahead rather than behind. When that advice comes from a Serie A goalkeeper of the year and Champions League winner, you tend to listen. "When he came, right away he took me under his arm and he wanted the best for me right from the start," Bendik said. "That helped me a lot to embrace the moment." Its help that Bendik says he will pay forward -- if he finds himself playing in his mid-30s with a young goalie. "I hope Im half the way he is," he said of Cesar. "Its been fantastic," said backup goalie Chris Konopka. "Working side by side with Julio, with the Brazil No. 1, hes as focused as he will ever be because hes preparing himself to be on the world stage, for basically the No. 1 team in the world," he added. "All eyes are going to be on him. It was definitely a unique and great experience working side by side with him." The goalies arent the only ones to praise Cesar. Captain Steven Caldwell says playing with Cesar has been one of the highlights of his career. "The impact hes had on me and everybody else at this football club is huge," said the Scottish defender. "In such a short space of time, for everybody to have the pleasure to see what its like to be a top, top professional and an outstanding goalkeeper is a real pleasure." "An outstanding human being," added Caldwell. The whole team plans to stay in touch with the Brazilian, by means of a chat group during the World Cup. No one will cheer louder than the Toronto FC dressing room if Cesar gets to hoist the World Cup. Both times hes left empty. It was War Emblem in 2002. On Saturday, it was California Chromes turn to lose the Belmont after capturing the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. "We reached almost to the top," Espinoza said. "Just one step away to get to the top." California Chrome finished in a dead heat for fourth, a disappointment to bettors who made him the 4-5 favourite. The Belmont was the third tough race in a short five-week span. His tank was empty. "As soon as he came out of the gate he wasnt the same," Espinoza said. Espinoza, 41, was once a bus driver in his native Mexico City. He has won riding titles at four Southern California tracks, winning over 3,000 races and earning $169 million in purses. With history on the line, the rider did his best to nurse California Chrome through the 1 1/2-mile race. Espinoza kept him on the rail in the early stages. On the final turn, with time running out, Espinoza shifted California Chrome outside to light a spark. "By five eighths pole (the top of the turn) he was empty," the jockey said. "I tried to move out to see if iit would make a difference. Grover Stewart Jersey. ." Not with a tired horse. "I was just waiting for to have the same kick like he always had before," Espinoza said. "Today he was a bit flat down the lane. He ran back-to-back races at different tracks, and against those fresh horses." At least this time, California Chrome got to run his race. War Emblem was a different kind of horse, a confirmed front runner who had to have it his way to be effective. War Emblem stumbled at the start of the Belmont. Espinoza got him back into the race but playing catchup was not War Emblems game. He finished eighth. Jockeys rarely get a chance for Triple Crown redemption. Espinoza was handed one when California Chrome launched a six-race winning streak the moment they teamed up. It was a magical run that started in races restricted to horses bred in California. It picked up momentum in the Santa Anita Derby and crashed the national stage in the Derby and the Preakness. In every win, California Chrome proved responsive to every command by Espinoza. They won on the lead. They came from just off the pace. "The last time I had been here, I stumbled," Espinoza said. "Today I dont feel bad. California Chrome was just empty today." KANSAS CITY, Mo. Wholesale Minnesota Vikings Jerseys . -- Jarrod Dyson loves to boast about what speedy base runners can do. Dyson and Terrance Gore used their speed to score as pinch runners in the ninth inning as the Kansas City Royals rallied to beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Monday night. "He knows hes got the ability to steal the tough base," Royals manager Ned Yost said. Mike Moustakas doubled with one out in the ninth. Dyson ran for him and stole third and came around to score as Jake Petricka (1-5) threw a wild pitch. After Nori Aoki doubled with two outs -- for his fourth hit of the game -- Gore, who was called up from the minors on Sept. 1 to primarily be a pinch runner, ran for him and scored from second on Lorenzo Cains infield single. "I was definitely going to be safe," Cain said. "I just put it in play and ran. They ended up bobbling the ball and Gore scored. I was definitely thinking hed field it and hold on. (Cain is) fast. Its a huge win for the boys." It was a bizarre ending to a game that the White Sox led 3-0 going into the seventh. "It was strange," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "When you see a play like that you think thats OK, you can give it to them and try to get the next guy, but then they get another one. That kid (Gore) is fast. Speed can do a lot of things." Wade Davis (9-2) worked a scoreless ninth to pick up the victory, extending his scoreless streak to 31 2-3 innings. White Sox starter John Danks pitched six scoreless innings and allowed just two singles, both by Aoki, before departing after 103 pitches. He struck out six and walked four. Danks, who has a 1.73 ERA at Kauffman Stadium, has never lost to the Royals in 15 career starts. The Royals scored all their runs off three White Sox relievers. Royals right-hander James Shields, who had his career best 18 1-3 scoreless innings streak ended in the first, gave up three runs and 10 hits, while striking out six and walking none in seven innings. "We had a lot of opportunities, but he came through," Ventura said. "We never got the big hit to put it out of reach. He was tough." Avisail Garcias two-out single in the first scored Adam Eaton. Eaton, who had three hits, led off the White Sox third with a double and scored on a Shields wild pitch. Conor Gillaspie singled home Alexei Ramirez with the second run of the inning. Eric Hosmer hit a double into shallow left off Javy Guerra to open the seventh and scored on Omar Infantes single for the first Kansas City run. Aoki led off the eighth with an infield single, advanced to second on Gillaspies throwing error, took third on a Zach Putnams wild pitch and scored on Alex Gordons single. AOKIS BIG NIGHT Aokis four hits, two that did not leave the infield, matched his career high, last accomplished on Sept. 20, 2013, against St. Louis. He also walked, reaching base five times. Aoki, who swings left-handed, is hitting .360 against left-handed pitching. It was his fourth multi-hit game in his past eight games. UP NEXT White Sox: RHP Chris Bassitt will make his fourth career appearance and third big league start Tuesday. Bassitt has allowed 14 hits, walked seven and hit two batters in 13 1-3 innings. Royals: RHP Liam Hendriks, who retired only seven of the 15 batters he faced in a loss Thursday to Boston, will make another spot start Tuesday. TRAINERS ROOM White Sox: DH-1B Paul Konerko (fractured left hand) took batting practice and could return to the lineup this week. Royals: LHP Danny Duffy (sore shoulder) will miss another start. He is scheduled to throw a 50-pitch four-inning simulated game Tuesday. If he has no problems, he will start Monday at Cleveland. . Portland, OR (SportsNetwork. Travis Frederick Jersey .com) - Paul Millsap scored 27 points to lead Atlanta to yet another impressive road win. The Hawks had seven players in double figures in their 115-107 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday. Atlanta had been climbing the Eastern Conference standings with a tremendous run starting in late November, and it moved into first place with Toronto losing in Golden State on Friday. Since losing to the Raptors on Nov. 26 to fall to 7-6, the Hawks have won 18 of 20 games, including seven straight on the road against the West. Their six straight road wins overall are the most since 2011. Jeff Teague tallied 22 points and six assists, Kyle Korver made four 3- pointers en route to 14 points and Al Horford and Thabo Sefolosha netted 13 apiece. A lot of different guys played well, said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. Thabo coming off the bench was great. Portland got 30 points and 12 rebounds from LaMarcus Aldridge in its first game since Dec. 30. Damian Lillard posted 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. I think we could have played better, but you have to credit Atlanta for playing a very efficient game on both ends of the court, Portland coach Terry Stotts said. Four different Hawks scored during a 10-0 run that gave the visitors a 62-51 lead early in the third quarter. Teague polished off a 9-0 burst later in the period, and the spread was 20. Lillard put Portland on his back after that, potting a deep 3 to jumpstart a 14-2 finish to the quarter. He also hit a stepback from 16 feet and beat the buzzer with an off-balance 3 to draw the hosts back within 83-75 after three. But the Hawks didnt succumb to the pressure, answering Portlands flurry with one of their own. An 8-2 run had the lead back to 13 points. It hovered between 15 and eight over the next seven minutes before the Blazers made things interesting with a late push. Trailing 106-91, Lillard hit a layup, Wesley Matthews scored six points in 26 seconds and Aldridge got a tip-in to go. Teague quieted the crowd with a pair of difficult running bank shots. Horford and DeMarre Carroll both missed two straight free throws, but Sefolosha potted four straight to help Atlanta hold on. Earlier, Portland opened the game with eight straight points but Atlanta answered with a prolonged 18-9 run to climb in front. It never trailed the rest of the way. Peralta pitched into the seventh inning and Jonathan Lucroy had three hits to send the Milwaukee Brewers past the slumping Mets 3-1 Wednesday night. Immediately after the game, Peralta headed home to the Dominican Republic to take care of some "family business," manager Ron Roenicke said. The pitcher will rejoin the team in Milwaukee this weekend. Roenicke said the plan has been in place for a while. The Brewers didnt want to reveal specifics, but it sounded as though Peralta was dealing with something serious. "Pretty tough. I dont know how he did it, but he did it. Pretty amazing, considering," Lucroy said. "I dont think I could do that with stuff like that on my mind." Lucroy doubled twice and drove in a run, raising his batting average to .341. Carlos Gomez and Jean Segura each had an RBI as the NL Central leaders wore down Jacob deGrom (0-3), still looking for his win after six mostly solid starts. The shaggy-haired rookie was lifted in the sixth after throwing 80 strikes in 107 pitches. But he got little help from his teammates as New York lost for the seventh time in eight games. "One of these days we are going to get that big hit for him and hell get that win," Mets manager Terry Collins said. Collins made it halfway through the latest defeat, ejected in the fifth for arguing a replay ruling. The attendance of 20,170 marked the smallest crowd at Citi Field this season -- for the second consecutive night. Peralta (6-5) used a 96-98 mph fastball and his nasty slider to hold scuffling David Wright and the punchless Mets to four hits in 6 1-3 innings. The right-hander won his second consecutive start following a four-game losing streak. It was the second time Peralta has shut down the Mets. He beat them 3-0 with eight innings of two-hit ball at Miller Park on Sept. 16, 2012. "Wily was really good. Command a lot better. Fastball was down in the zone better. Slider was better," Roenicke said. "I thought he pitched today instead of fighting through things and just trying to throw as hard as he could." Will Smith worked a scoreless eighth and ex-Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez got three quicck outs for his 20th save in 22 attempts. Ziggy Ansah Jersey. First baseman Mark Reynolds made a diving catch to end it. Milwaukee has won nine of 14 overall. "It was definitely a grind-it win," Lucroy said. In his second game since moving into the leadoff spot, Scooter Gennett gave the Brewers a pair of pesky at-bats that paid off. He saw a total of 16 pitches during his first two trips to the plate and got a hit both times. After a double to start the third, he scored on a groundout by Lucroy. With the score tied in the fourth, Mets left fielder Curtis Granderson misplayed Aramis Ramirezs leadoff double. Segura tried to squeeze home a run with one out, but bunted foul. On the next pitch, he lined an RBI single to snap a 2-for-28 skid. Lucroys fifth-inning double sent Ryan Braun to third. He scored on Gomezs infield single to make it 3-1. "Lukes locked in and he has been for quite a while," Roenicke said. "His at-bats are outstanding." Taylor Teagarden was called out on a bang-bang play at first to open the bottom half. Collins challenged, and the crowd cheered when replays appeared to show Teagarden was safe by a hair. But the call stood upon review, bringing a confounded Collins out of the dugout again. He gestured toward the big video board in centre field and was given some leeway during the discussion before getting tossed by plate umpire Gary Cederstrom. It was Collins first ejection this season. Managers are not allowed to argue replay rulings. "I knew when I left the dugout what was going to happen," Collins said. "Sometimes you have to have an answer." Lucas Dudas sacrifice fly put the Mets ahead in the second. NOTES: Gomez has reached safely in 26 straight games, the longest active streak in the majors. ... CHICAGO -- After blowing an early two-goal lead against the New York Islanders, the Chicago Blackhawks buckled down and rode a one-goal lead to victory. Richie James Jersey . Michal Handzus scored the go-ahead goal 6:45 into the second period and the Chicago Blackhawks held on for a 3-2 win over the Islanders on Friday night. Chicagos Jonathan Toews and rookie Joakim Nordstrom connected in the first period, while Duncan Keith had two assists. Nordstroms goal was his first in the NHL. In its previous two games, defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago wasnt in buttoned-down form as it allowed Tampa Bay and St. Louis to score late in a shootout and a regulation loss. It looked like more of the same was brewing Friday. The Blackhawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but New Yorks Josh Bailey scored at 19:06 of the first period and Kyle Okposo scored 49 seconds later to it at 2-all. "Against St. Louis and Tampa, there were a few points we left on the table," Toews said. "Tonight could have been one of those nights where we fall into that trend of squeezing the stick a little bit too hard late in the game only up one goal. "But we maintained our composure. We know what weve got to do to protect those leads and play smart late in games. Weve improved on that." After Handzus restored Chicagos lead in the second, the Blackhawks were poised and tidy, even if they couldnt add to their advantage. "We didnt get that extra goal tonight, which made it close all the way to the end, but I still thought we did some good things," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "But I liked what we gave up, and that wasnt much." Chicagos Nikolai Khabibulin made 17 saves and New Yorks Kevin Poulin finished with 25 as both goaltenders made their first starts this season. The 40-year-old Khabibulin rejoined the Blackhawks last summer as a free agent to back up Corey Crawford. Evgeni Nabokov had started the Islanders first three contests. Chicago had allowed five power-play goals in nine attempts entering the game, but killed both New York advantages on Friday. The Islanders lost for the first time in regulation, and coach Jack Capuano wasnt surprised based on his teams effort. "When you mismanage the puck against that team and you dont make them play a 200-foot game, youre never going to have success and thats exactly what happened," he said. "Our execution level was down and we had some passengers tonight." The Blackhawks dominated the first period and took a 2-0 lead before the goals by Bailey and Okposo in the final minute of the frame evened it. Set up by Niklas Hjalmarssons feed from behind the net, Nordstrom opened the scoring midway through the first period from just outside the crease to cap a Chicago flurry in the New York zone. Toews made it 2-0 with 3:55 left in the period when Brent Seabrooks shot from the right point bounced off the back boards and straight to Toews in the left circle. He fired into an open net before Poulin could recover. Bailey wristed in a shot with 54 seconds left in the first to cut it to 2-1 after he corralled Michael Grabners drop pass in the right circle. Okposo tied it at 2 with just 5 seconds remaining in the period on a backhand shot from a crowd in the slot. He was set up by John Tavares pinpoint pass from behind the net. New York, however, didnt capitalize on the momentum swing. "We got a couple of big goals there to get us back in the game and we werent able to sustain that into the second period," Tavares said. "Weve got to keep on generating opportunities." Handzus put Chicago back ahead when he was left uncovered in in the slot and popped in a rebound of Duncan Keiths shot from the point after the puck rolled off Poulin. Both teams had a handful of chances in the third, including a couple of close-in attempts by Tavares. NOTES: RW Cal Clutterbuck played his first game with the Islanders. On a night he managed only a season low for strikeouts, the St. Louis right-hander still found ways to dominate. Wainwright allowed four hits over 7 2-3 innings, Matt Carpenter continued to feast on San Francisco pitching, and the Cardinals ended a scoring drought, beating the Giants 2-0 Wednesday night. "To come away with a way on a night I walked the pitcher, Ill run out of here," Wainwright said. "That was a big win for us." Carpenter had three hits and drove in a run, improving to .520 (26 for 50) against the Giants to help the Cardinals end a three-game losing streak. Matt Holliday added two hits and an RBI. "I dont think there is any rhyme or reason to it," Carpenter said. "I stay with the same approach and just try to help the team." Wainwright (11-4) took over the NL lead in ERA (1.89) and wins. He walked two and struck out one and his infielders combined to record 18 outs. "I was aware of that," Wainwright said. "Im getting outs, so why change? When you start thinking about strikeouts, then you start going deeper into counts. Guys were making great plays and laying out left and right." The closest the Giants came to scoring was in the eighth, when Tyler Colvin sent a drive to the wall in centre field and defensive replacement Peter Bourjos hauled it in. Joe Panik, who had two hits, was the lone Giant to venture past first base, reaching third with two outs in the sixth and again with two outs in the eighth. Ryan Vogelsong (5-5) gave up two runs on six hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out eight. Vogelsong lost his second straight start despite a 2.08 ERA with a walk and 15 strikeouts over that span. "He had all his pitches going, good tempo out there," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "For him to give up two runs, seven innings, thats a great job." The Cardinals ended a 26-inning scoreless streak by scoring twice in the thiird. Dekoda Watson Jersey. Oscar Tavares doubled and Mark Ellis singled. After a strikeout, Carpenter and Holliday each singled in runs. Carpenter has hit safely in 14 of his 16 games against the Giants, including the last 10 10. "Were still trying to figure out a way to score runs," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. "Those were big RBIs there. It lets Wainwright do what he does. Its no secret hes the guy we want on the mound." Vogelsong retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced, allowing one hit the rest of his outing. "It doesnt matter, its a loss," Vogelsong said. "Im tired of talking about stuff. Its all about wins and losses now and getting to the playoffs. It doesnt matter what the stuff is. Its about getting wins." Wainwright faced just two over the minimum until Panik singled with two outs in the eighth. Pinch-hitter Hector Sanchez also singled and Pat Neshek came on to get Gregor Blanco to pop out. SAN JOSE, Calif. Tom Waddle Jersey . -- San Jose Earthquakes defender Andreas Gorlitz will undergo season-ending right knee surgery Friday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The team made the announcement Thursday, a day after the right back and MLS newcomer was injured just before halftime in a 0-0 draw at home against the Colorado Rapids. The 32-year-old German, formerly with Bayern Munich, made three appearances in his first season with San Jose. He signed on March 4 following a 12-year professional career in Germany. Dr. Zack Vaughn will perform the procedure at Stanford Hospital. Cody Whitehair Jersey .J. -- Pete Carroll said it was the suspension of linebacker Bruce Irvin last spring that finally got the attention of the rest of the Seattle Seahawks that they needed to be taking their commitment to the team more seriously. Kylie Fitts Jersey . The move - the latest twist in Greeces nearly three-year financial freefall -- is the first such action by any of the countrys major sports bodies. It immediately halts all domestic track and field competitions, including track meets May 12-13 in several Greek cities. http://www.cheapbearsjerseysonline.com/ . Pinch-hitter Tommy Medica singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and the Padres beat the Seattle Mariners 2-1 in their first home game since Gwynn died of cancer Monday.Ladies and Gentlemen, start your printing presses. Now that the World Cup draw is complete, millions of words will be typed in previewing the tournament and thousands of publications will print previews. These are always enjoyable to read but can easily sway your opinion one way or the other. It really is amazing what can happen over time, how a team can go from nobodies to contenders just by certain people talking up their chances. With that in mind, it is important to remember how you feel about these teams today. Things will change, players will get hurt and their form will change, for better or worse, so now is not the time to marry yourself to your picks but it is a very good idea to stick to the majority of what you think today. With that in mind, here are my picks from each group to progress, with a few other predicitions thrown in there too. GROUP A – Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon Initial thoughts on the draw – Brazil will have wanted this kind of group where they can (and will) win it but be challenged and, in Mexico and Croatia, they have teams that will not be cannon fodder. The problem for Brazil is how tough group B is and thats who they will be paired with in the last 16. Most anticipated game – Brazil vs Croatia: Opening game of the World Cup. Pressure is incredible on a host starting a tournament (I am surprised so many hosts want to start the tournament off) but in Croatia, they have an opponent who they can beat. Group Winner – Brazil Runner-up – Mexico GROUP B – Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia Initial thoughts on the draw – I am not a fan of the term Group of Death but if you are looking for the strongest group, this is it – by a mile! Chile were the team no seeded team wanted to face and Spain, much like four years ago, get them again. Throw in the Dutch and you have an absolutely fantastic group. Spain are a wonderful side but their style of winning tight, narrow games could come back and cost them in this very competitive group. Most anticipated game – Spain vs Netherlands: it is the first match and anyone who loses with Chile still to play will be in massive trouble. Spain cannot afford to start slow again and the road back from an opening game loss is even tougher in 2014 than it was in 2010 with Chile playing in South America. Group Winner – Chile Runner-up - Netherlands GROUP C – Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan Initial thoughts on the draw – On paper, this does not look like a group to get excited about but we should see some wonderful football on display in this group, featuring three teams who can be expansive and easy on the eye (sorry Greece). For Colombia, this is a dream group to help them build confidence as they move towards the knock-out rounds. Most Anticipated Game – Ivory Coast vs Greece: The Africans have been harshly treated in each of the last two World Cup draws but now they have a real shot at qualifying. Their final group, up against Greece, will be a stern test to see if they can climb a hurdle theyve never jumped before. Group Winner - Colombia Runner-up - Ivory Coast GROUP D - Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy Initial thoughts on the draw – You will read in the next few months how Uruguay are old and past their prime, finished fifth out of nine in qualifying and can be beaten but this team is built for tournaments like this and they get to play Costa Rica first. Enngland, however, play Costa Rica (which is not an easy game for them either) last and could be out of the tournament by then. Isaiah Irving Jersey. Italy need a group where they can be tested early (like 2006, not 2010) and although this is a tough one for them, they are more than good enough to win it. Most anticipated game – England vs Italy in Manaus: The latest kick off in the tournament will help, but the weather will be hot in the Amazon region. Hopefully, it wont be a tense 0-0 with so much to come afterwards but dont bet against it! Group Winner – Italy Runner-up - Uruguay GROUP E – Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras Initial thoughts on the draw – France have been dealt a hand they wanted. Questions around their mental state are warranted but these three games, against teams they can beat, will go along way to helping restore the confidence they need to show their talents. Honduras, ironically, gets the E4 slot that a European team so wanted for climate purposes. Seeds Switzerland get a chance to show why they deserved their ranking. Most anticipated game – Switzerland vs Ecuador: The first match of the group is a true match of confederations that will likely help one team advance over the other. Group Winner – France Runner-up - Ecuador GROUP F – Argentina, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria Initial thoughts on the draw – Lost on all the debates of what the group of Death is, is the fact that Argentina were handed a fantastic path towards the final stages. Not only were they given an easy group they should win, they were paired with second in E for the last 16 and winner of H or second in G for the last 8. They also went on to the opposite half of the draw than the winner of group A, likely arch-rivals Brazil. Most anticipated game – Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Nigeria: Another game of contrasting styles that is likely to be a playoff to make the last 16. Group Winner – Argentina Runner-up - Nigeria GROUP G – Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA Initial thoughts on the draw – Klinsmann vs Germany; Ronaldo vs Ozil, so many storylines in this group but lost in it all will be how Africas strongest nation got a very difficult draw once again (much like Ivory Coast in 2006 and 2010). For the Americans, it is a nightmare draw, placed in G4, forced to play all three games in the heat of northern Brazil, and against three very good nations. Most anticipated game – Germany vs Portugal: Forget the Klinsmann Derby, another opportunity to see Cristiano Ronaldo against the Germans (like in Euro 2012) will be magnificent. Group Winner – Germany Runner-up - Portugal GROUP H – Belgium, Algeria, Russia, Korea Republic Initial thoughts on the draw – Absolutely perfect for Belgium. Handed H1, they avoid any games in the tropical north and get three opponents that they will be comfortable with. Russia, against Algeria and Korea Republic, will also be happy but dont rule them out for failing to deliver on the biggest stage once again. Most anticipated game – Belgium vs Algeria: Marc Wilmots side are going to get a lot of love between now and the first game. They were already many peoples sleeper pick and that will intensify with this draw and the game against Algeria finally gives the world a chance to see what Belgium do on the big stage. LAWRENCE, Kan. Stitched Washington Redskins Jerseys . -- Kansas sophomore Perry Ellis is a man of very few words. Chances are the roughly 16,000 fans chanting his name Saturday could help him out. Ellis scored a career-high 32 points to lead the seventh-ranked Jayhawks to a 95-65 victory over TCU, and then answered every question posed to him in his typically understated fashion. Did you feel in a rhythm? "Definitely felt in a rhythm," he replied. What did you think of the chants? "It felt good, just great fan support," he said. Leave it to his teammates to describe the best game of his career. "He takes good shots in a rhythm, and he always looks for his teammates," said Andrew Wiggins of Vaughan, Ont., who added 17 points. "He was aggressive all game, attacking the hoop, making 3s. He did everything." Ellis also had eight rebounds and five assists while shooting 13 of 15 from the field. "Fantastic game," said Wayne Selden Jr., who scored 15 for the Jayhawks. Playing without injured centre Joel Embiid and suspended forward Brannen Greene, Kansas (19-6, 10-2 Big 12) got off to a slow start but still managed to take a 47-40 lead into the break. The Jayhawks then used a 13-1 charge out of the locker room to put away the Horned Frogs. TCU (9-15, 0-12) still has not won since knocking off Texas Southern on Dec. 29. Kyan Anderson did all he could, scoring 21 of his 25 points in the first half. Amric Fields added 12 points, but otherwise a team thats been depleted by injuries much of the season wasnt able to hang with the impressive depth of the Jayhawks. "You know what? I thought we competed as well as we have for a while," TCU coach Trent Johnson said. "Kyan did a really, really good job of keeping us in the game in the first half, but theyre really good. Theyre really good." Embiid, who has emerged as one of the nations top NBA prospects, has been dealing with ankle and back injuries that have limited his floor time the last several weeks. He didnt practice in the run-up to TCU and wound up watching from the bench, though he routinely leaped out of his seat to celebrate the myriad of alley-oop dunks that highlighted the Jayhawks second half. Self said he should be available Tuesday at Texas Tech. Greene, a freshman swingman, also is expected back after sitting out for what Self called "a slippage from a responsibility standpoint." Reserve forward Jamari Traylor got back on the court for Kansas and finished with a career-high 10 points and eight rebounds. The sophomore was held out of Monday nights overtime loss to Kansas State for what Self also had described as irresponsible behaviour. The two of them spoke Thursday and Self decided to let Traylor play. Self turned to Traylor when Tarik Black, who started in Embiids place, picked up two fouls in the opening 2 minutes. It was part of a miserable early stretch for Kansas that included a 1-for-7 performance from the foul line and very little defence. Of course, the Horned Frogs had a hand in that performance. Anderson was 7 of 8 from the field and 5 for 5 from the foul line in the first half, and TCU -- which came in shooting a Big 12-worst 40.9 per cent -- was hitting at a 56.5-per cent clip. "Its all rhythm," Anderson said. "We put pretty good pressure on them in the first half." Then the second half started, and the Jayhawks began playing above the rim. Black, Wiggins and Selden each were on the finishing end of alley-oop passes during what turned into a 23-5 run, giving Kansas a 70-45 lead midway through the second half. Johnson burned through a series of timeouts, but none seemed to quiet a star-studded crowd that included several NBA stars and Barbara Eden of "I Dream of Jeannie" fame. The Jayhawks started to empty the bench with about five minutes left, shortly after Ellis knocked down a 3-pointer from the corner and the crowd started chanting his name. "He was great," Self said. "He made shots, stretched it, then made mid-range shots, took the ball strong to the hole. I think one of his two misses he got back. He was without question our best player today. Other guys played well offensively, but certainly nobody played like Perry." Stitched Cincinnati Bengals Jerseys . The Winnipeg Jets may have to move forward without Mark Scheifele for a while. John Hannah Jersey . Though the Jets have not confirmed any updates to Scheifeles status, TSN Hockey Analyst Aaron Ward says early reports indicate he suffered an MCL injury and will likely out 6-8 weeks. Scheifele took a hit from defenceman Calvin de Haan with just under nine minutes left in the second period in the Jets 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders on Tuesday night. He fell to the ice and went straight to the dressing room. The 20-year-old has scored 13 goals and 21 assists in 63 games with the Jets this season. The 21-year-old scored his first goal for the Hoops in the 7-0 victory over Motherwell on the final day of the league campaign. But the former Inverness CT star, who spent several months on loan with his former club in the first half of the season, has had limited chances to impress at Celtic so far. Christie returned from that loan spell in November after suffering a leg injury, and former boss Ronny Deila opted for experience as Celtic fought off the challenge of Aberdeen to secure a fifth successive Scottish Premiership title. Brendan Rodgers was unveiled as Celtics new manager on Monday Now Christie is ready to battle for his place in the Celtic side as he looks to make an impression on Rodgers following his appointment on Monday. Its nice when a new gaffer comes in because everyone knows theyre on the same level and youre just fighting for a place to impress, so itll be in everyones head to step in the door on top form at pre-season, Christie said to the clubs official magazine.Obviously you go away in the summer to enjoy yourself and relax, but you keep yourself in ggood enough shape so that when you come back in youre as fit as you can be as you are trying to impress the new gaffer straight away. Malcom Brown Jersey. . Christie was injured during Inverness Caleys defeat at Motherwell in November As soon as you come back you realise for pre-season that you dont actually have that long. Its not like you have another month-and-a-half before your first game of the season. You need to go straight away.Obviously it has been frustrating not playing but its such a big squad and I need to remember Ive signed a four-year deal so Im here for the long term. I know that Ive definitely learned and improved as a player, even if Im not playing. I definitely feel Ive come on through training with the boys and Ive got stronger and fitter, so from that aspect I dont really feel like it has stalled my improvement, so thats good, but like I said, there is a very big squad so its hard to even get your name on the list before a game, but when I have been involved Ive enjoyed it. Every night of the Stanley Cup playoffs, TSN hockey analyst and former NHL goaltender Jamie McLennan breaks down each goalies performance. Brent Seabrook Jersey . Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings (5) - Quick put a show on Friday night, as he was dialed in from puck drop and exuded confidence all night long. The prime examples were the Corey Perry penalty shot and then the big breakaway chance he had where he had some words with him after the play. He also robbed Ryan Getzlaf two massive times and it was hard not to call him a clutch goaltender. He delivers when the chips are down, with a ferocious work ethic in the net. Quick proved hes not only a big money goalie, but knows how to step up at the right time. John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks (1) - Gibson looked like he was 20 on Friday night, as he had some rebound issues, wasnt getting a lot of help from teammates, but looked uncomfortable and a bit nervous. He fought the puck all night long before he was lifted. But Gibson has a great future in this league. I was always concerned about him having to shoulder the responsibilities without a lot of experience, but he Will grow as a goalie and become one of the special ones. Jonas Hiller, Anaheim Ducks (3) - He wasnt tested much, with not a lot of chance on the goals-against, but he did a decent job of mopping up after it was 4-0. Ryan Hartman Jersey .4 seconds left and dribbled up court, weaving through Pitts defence. Jordan Oesterle Jersey . Tokarski, a somewhat controversial choice -- with his 10 games of NHL experience and all -- to replace an injured Carey Price in Game Two had a night to remember, turning back a Rangers team that was dominating play from the get-go, outshooting the Canadiens 14-4 in the first period and 37-25 overall. http://www.blackhawksauthority.com/authentic-glenn-hall-blackhawks-jersey/ .3 seconds remaining, and No. 7 North Carolina held off a resilient No. 25 Virginia team, 54-51, on Saturday. John Henson contributed a double-double with 15 points to go with 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels (25-4, 12-2 ACC), who have won five straight and 10 of 11. OMAHA, Neb. -- Virginia pitcher Josh Sborz slips a pinch of chewing tobacco between his cheek and gum every now and then, even though the NCAA banned the substance 20 years ago, "I enjoy the taste. Its not like Im addicted to it," Sborz said. "I just enjoy it, definitely. I do it maybe once a month or every other week." Sborz said this weeks death of Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Gwynn might give college players some pause. Gwynn died at 54 of oral cancer believed to be connected to his long use of chewing tobacco. "It should have an impact when such a star-studded players life was ended by the addiction he had. Its sad," Sborz said. Whether Gwynns death has any real impact is an open question and it comes amid some concerns: Baseball players acknowledging using spit tobacco at least once in the previous month rose from 42.5 per cent in 2005 to 52.3 per cent in 2009, according to the NCAAs quadrennial survey substance use trends among its athletes. Results of the 2013 survey have not yet been released, though preliminary results suggest a drop since 2009. About 15 per cent of teams in each NCAA sport are asked to participate in the anonymous survey, with a total sample size of about 20,000 athletes. Among all male athletes, 16 per cent acknowledged using tobacco in 2005 and 17 per cent in 2009. Sborz said he thinks the survey is "skewed" when it comes to ball players. "All those people dont do it every day," he said. "If people do it every day, thats where it becomes a problem. If they do it once every week, I dont see any issue with it." Minor-league baseball banned tobacco in 1993, a year before the NCAA. Tobacco is not banned in the major leagues. Though tins of tobacco arent visible in college dugouts like they were before 1994, that doesnt mean players arent dipping when theyre away from the ballpark. "Its 100 per cent part of baseball culture," said Virginia second baseman Branden Coogswell, who estimated half his teammates chew tobacco at least occasionally. Bobby Orr Jersey. "Its kind of a habit for people, kind of a comfort thing. Ive never been a part of that group, but so many guys do it. People take those risks. Its their choice." Dave Keilitz, executive director of the American Baseball Coaches Association, said he was surprised to find out so many baseball players were using tobacco. "I think most of our coaches, if not all of our coaches, are very aware of the danger and also dont want their players using it," Keilitz said. "In my 20 years of doing this, I havent seen any evidence of that taking place in dugouts, in games. I hope the same holds true in practice sessions." Keilitz said his organization adamantly opposes the use of smokeless tobacco and participated in the making of a video that illustrates the dangers. Virginia coach Brian OConnor said he chewed during his playing days in the late 1980s and early 90s. Like Keilitz, he was surprised so many players acknowledge using tobacco. "If kids are doing it, theyre doing a heck of a job of hiding it," he said. The NCAA said the ban was put in place as part of its charge to protect the safety and welfare of athletes. The penalty for violating the ban was left to the committee that oversees each sport. The Baseball Rules Committee instructed umpires to eject any player or coach who is using tobacco or who has tobacco in his possession. Enforcement was spotty until the committee made it a point of emphasis in 2003. In spite of the warnings the players receive, Texas coach Augie Garrido said he knows some members of his team chew tobacco. "Theres a lot more of it in Texas," he said, "because its not only about the baseball. Its about hunting, its about fishing, its about being a man." As for Sborz, he started chewing for a simple reason. "I saw an older kid do it, so I thought Id try to do it," he said. MANAUS, Brazil -- Pure class and pure power. Cole Toner Jersey . Skill and strength. Creative vision and clinical finishing. Andrea Pirlo and Mario Balotelli are a study in contrasts on the football pitch. And off it. Together, they provide Italy with two distinct weapons and on Saturday both players stood out in a 2-1 win over England at the World Cup. Pirlo set up Italys opening goal without even touching the ball and Balotelli headed in the winner early in the second half. "We take our hats off to their skill," England coach Roy Hodgson said. It was an evening reminiscent of the 2012 European Championship, when Pirlo and Balotelli combined to lead Italy to the final of the European Championship. This time, after a few errant passes from Pirlo, the midfield maestro broke open the match by stepping over a cross and fooling the England defenders to let Claudio Marchisio fire in from long-range in the 34th minute. "Pirlo is a player who can add quality in every area of the pitch," Italy coach Cesare Prandelli said. "Whether its a tight triangle, going far forward or whatever, he can handle himself in any area." At 35, Pirlo is a veteran of the Italy squad that won the 2006 title. Modest and quiet, his personality couldnt be farther from the brashness that the 23-year-old Balotelli displays. After England equalized two minutes later, Balotelli showed his nose for goal by attempting a sharply angled lob shot after drawing goalkeeper Joe Hart out of position in first-half added time. England defender Phil Jagielka headed away the danger but that only seemed to increase Balotellis appetite. Five minutes into the second half, the AC Milan forward finally found the target, leaping over Gary Cahill to head in by the far post following superb work down the right flank and a perfect cross from Antonio Candreva. "Im really happy. Its a special feeling," said Balotelli, who proposed to his Belgian girlfriend a few days ago. "Ive never played in a World Cup and its fantastic. I dedicate this victory to my future wife, who is here, to my family, and to my friends." Balotelli hadnt scored for Italy since October but the enigmatic striker now has 13 goals in 30 appearances for the Azzurri and has silenced any doubts about his lineup status. Ciro Immobile had been pushing Balotelli for the centre forward spot after leading Serie A with 22 goals and a hat trick in a warmup match last week against top-flight Brazilian club Fluminense. "I think he can score many more," Prandelli said. "Ive said it before. (Balotelli) has enormous potential. He needs to convince himself that his movements up front are decisive enough to finish actions. He gave everything he had but Im convinced he has margins for improvement." When Immobile replaced Balotelli in the 73rd, the crowd at the Arena Amazonia showered him with a loud applause. And when the final whistle blew, Balotelli put his finger to his lips as if to silence the criticism he routinely faces. Then he winked to a TV camera. Born in Sicily to Ghanaian immigrants and raised by Italian foster parents, Balotelli is also subjected to racism constantly back home. Before kickoff Saturday, Balotelli tweeted, "ITALIANS. Whatever squad you support, today there is only the Azzurra squad! Hate, jealousy, contempt, lets put it all aside and ALL be united!" United with Pirlo, Balotelli and Italy are tough to beat. Chris Landrum Jersey . The mixed zone is not a place to make friends. Austin Ekeler Jersey . Good saves on Moore and Nash in OT before the breakdowns on the winning goal Henrik Lundqvist, Rangers (4) - First goal came through a screen, but he was deeper than usual and it beats him short side. Made some big saves on Malkin, Neal, Stempniak and Kunitz to keep thhe score tied. Damion Square Jersey. Did a good job on the road on Friday night. NEW YORK -- New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton was arraigned on two felony weapons possession charges in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday. Brian Dawkins Jersey . The arraignment followed an early morning arrest after a lawyer for his wife turned in a loaded semi-automatic handgun allegedly belonging to the basketball star to a police precinct, claiming she no longer wanted it in their home, authorities said. Wearing a black sweatshirt with a peace sign and other symbols on it, Felton was seemingly upbeat as he appeared before Judge Diana Boyar, nodding affirmatively after he was ordered to stay away from his wife, Ariane Raymondo-Felton. He did not enter a plea, which is common for this stage in the case. "Mr. Felton has no interest in having contact" with her, one of his lawyers, James Walden, told the judge. Court records show she filed for divorce from Felton last week. Felton was released on $25,000 bail and was ushered into a black SUV following his arraignment. Under the terms of his bond, Felton can travel to games, bail bondsman Ira Judelson said. Prosecutors said they were told Felton stored the Belgian-made FN Herstal model handgun in the home from August through February. A lawyer for Feltons wife, a student at Fordham University School of Law, dropped off the weapon at a stationhouse on Manhattans upper West Side on Monday evening, shortly before tipoff of the Knicks game against the Dallas Mavericks at Madison Square Garden, police said. The gun had 18 rounds of live ammunition in its magazine, which can hold about 20 rounds, prosecutors said. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of a firearm. The firearm charge is punishable by up to four years in prison. The weapons charge is punishable by up to seven years in prison. The section under which he was charged concerns having a large-capacity ammunition magazine. Police had arrested Felton on charges that included a mid-level weapons-possession charge that can entail having a loaded gun outside ones home or business or having a loaded gun with the intention to use it against someone. The DAs office didnt comment on why prosecutors chose the charges they did; its not uncommon for charges to change between arrest and arraignment. Investigators reached Felton by contacting the director of security at Madison Square Garden after his wife made a statement to detectives Monday night, police said. Felton turned himself in at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, not long after the Knicks buzzer-beater loss to Dallas, police said. The former University of North Carolina star made no statement after he arrived at the precinct with a lawyer, police said. A Knicks spokesman has said the team had no immediate comment. An attorney for Raymondo-Felton didnt comment. The Knicks had no game scheduled Tuesday. Felton had eight points and seven assists Monday in the Knicks 110-108 loss to Dallas. The Knicks brought the point guard back for a second stint in New York in July 2012, opting to let Jeremy Lin leave, and Felton helped the Knicks win the Atlantic Division last year. But he has had a disappointing season, averaging 10.4 points and shooting 40 per cent while missing 16 games with a series of injuries. He has been frequently criticized by fans as the Knicks have fallen to 21-36. NBA spokesman Tim Frank said the league was monitoring the case. It could fine or suspend Felton, but usually waits until after the legal case has been resolved. The league did break from that policy to suspend Gilbert Arenas for the remainder of the season after he brought guns to the Washington Wizards locker room during the 2009-10 season. He was eventually sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house. Felton is not the first pro athlete to run afoul of New Yorks strict gun laws. Plaxico Burress was a New York Giants wide receiver when he was arrested in 2008 after accidentally shooting himself in a Manhattan nightclub. He served two years in prison. Fighter Robert Guerrero was arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport last year after he presented a locked gun box containing an unloaded handgun during check-in. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $250 fine and complete 50 hours of community service. In other high-profile cases, multiplatinum-selling rappers Lil Wayne and Ja Rule both were arrested in Manhattan, separately, on gun-possession charges in their vehicles after leaving the same concert they had both played in 2007. Both pleaded guilty to attempted gun possession charges; Lil Wayne spent about eight months in a city jail; Ja Rule served most of a two-year prison sentence. Felton is set to earn $3.8 million next season and has a player option that would pay him $4 million in 2015-16. The Knicks could attempt to void the contract, but that would likely be challenged by the players association. The New York State Supreme Court only partially dismissed the lawsuit, meaning the case could be headed for trial. The tour announced a year ago that Singh would be suspended for saying in a Sports Illustrated story that he took deer antler spray, which was believed to contain the banned substance IGF-1.SEATTLE - Carson Palmer felt confident in where he needed to go with the throw. He also knew he was throwing to a wide receiver who hadnt made a reception in the previous 57 minutes. A perfectly placed throw by Palmer and a juggling catch by Michael Floyd kept the Arizona Cardinals in the playoff hunt for another week with a surprising 17-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Palmer overcame four interceptions to find Floyd on a 31-yard touchdown with 2:13 left, and Arizona won for the seventh time in eight games and snapped the Seahawks 14-game home win streak. "Its tough not to get the ball thrown your way until the last play of the game essentially," Palmer said. The Cardinals were nasty on defence, frustrating Russell Wilson into the first home loss of his professional career and gave Palmer a chance to come through late. Palmer did and now Week 17 has meaning for Arizona. "An ugly win is a win regardless of how it comes out," Palmer said. "There was a handful of times where the ball really bounced their way today and we were resilient, kept fighting, kept believing and came out and got a win." Palmer was mistake prone early, throwing three of his four interceptions in the first half. He was twice intercepted in the end zone, including Richard Shermans second pick of the game early in the fourth quarter. His winning drive made up for the earlier errors. Palmer led Arizona 75 yards in 10 plays. Floyd had been targeted four times previous without a reception, but beat Byron Maxwell down the sideline and Palmers throw was on the mark. The 58-0 beating the Seahawks put on Arizona last season in Seattle is history. The memory now is Arizona handing Seattle its first home loss since Dec. 24, 2011, against San Francisco. "Any time you come on the road and the team beats you 58-0 and you have to come back to their place, it lingers to the back of your head," Arizona defensive tackle Darnell Dockett said. "If you got any pride in any game of football, when a team beats you by 58, you know you think about it and its stuck on you." Palmer finished 13 of 25 for 178 yards. Floyds TD reception was his only catch and Larry Fitzgerald was held to three catches for 18 yards. Arizona didnt need to be explosive offensively because of its defence. Wilson was 11 off 27 for 108 yards, taking his first home loss since he was at North Carolina State. Max Garcia Jersey. . Seattle went three-and-out seven times. They had only 22:36 of possession. Wilson rarely had time to throw and when he did, he missed open receivers. His final pass was underthrown, deflecting off Doug Baldwin and into the arms of Karlos Dansby with 1:56 left. The final pass was another moment of debate for the Seahawks, who earlier thought they had recovered a fumble only to have replay side with Arizona. The pass appeared to hit the ground before deflecting off Baldwin and to Dansby. It was ruled an interception on the field and referee Scott Green told a pool reporter there was not indisputable evidence to overturn that call. Baldwin was emphatic the ball hit the turf. "I would have loved to get that call," Baldwin said. "I believe the ball hit the ground. But thats not why we didnt win the game." Until the winning scoring drive, Palmers day was defined by poor decisions and unlucky bounces. He was intercepted in the end zone by Kam Chancellor on Arizonas opening drive when his pass deflected off Rob Hausler. He was picked off by Malcolm Smith in Seattle territory in the second quarter on a tipped pass, and twice threw interceptions to Sherman, the second a poor decision. But Palmer was fantastic on Arizonas decisive drive after Seattle took a 10-9 lead on Wilsons 11-yard TD pass to Zach Miller. Palmer started with a third-down completion as he was about to get sandwiched by Clinton McDonald, flipping a pass to Jake Ballard for 17 yards. The drive was kept going when Smith was flagged for defensive holding on a third-down incompletion. On third-and-6, Palmer dropped a perfect throw beyond Maxwell and into Floyds hands. He juggled it at first, but controlled the ball as he hit the turf. Rashard Mendenhall scored easily on the 2-point conversion with 2:13 left. "Whether we make the playoffs or not, we beat one of the best," Arizona coach Bruce Arians said. Notes: Arizona won in Seattle for the first time since 2009. ... According to STATS, Inc., it was the third regular season game Palmer threw four INTs and first that he won. ... LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Kings jumped on a couple of early scoring chances and spent the rest of the night playing stellar defence. Derek Wolfe Jersey . When a few shots broke through that defensive front, Jonathan Quick was there. The Kings won the Stanley Cup two years ago with that basic formula, and they can see it clicking again as they close in on another playoff run. Jeff Carter scored his 250th career NHL goal on a power play, Quick made 17 saves to remain unbeaten since the Olympic break, and the Kings beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 Monday night for their fifth straight victory. Jake Muzzin scored an early goal for the Kings, who have won four games in six days since the break to solidify their playoff position in the Pacific Division, 10 points ahead of fourth-place Vancouver. The Kings might not be the most eye-catching team in the NHL, but the back-to-back Western Conference finalists results are becoming increasingly attractive. "Were playing the way I expected us to play coming out of the break," said Justin Williams, who got an assist on Muzzins goal just 1:54 in by leading a rush. "Were playing hard and not giving up leads. We do need to capitalize on more of our chances, but its two points we need for playoff position." Los Angeles took an early lead and hung on through 35 closing minutes of scoreless hockey for its first home victory over the Canadiens since March 8, 2003. Quick put together another outstanding game for the Kings on the heels of his performance for the U.S. national team in Sochi, making a handful of big saves to beat the Canadiens for the first time in his career. With his 168th win, the Conn Smythe Trophy winner is just three behind Rogie Vachon for the Los Angeles franchise record. "The style that we play, those are the kind of games youre going to see more often than not," Quick said. "At times it was a little slow, but I thought we carried the game for the most part. We didnt give them many opportunities. It was the kind of game you want to play." The Kings followed up their 6-0 victory at Montreal on Dec. 10 with another solid performance against the Canadiens built around that defence. Los Angeles has allowed an NHL-low 134 goals, and Montreal couldnt crack the Kings defence except for P.K. Subbans fortunate deflection goal late in the first period. "We played against the best defensive team in the league, and that showed," Montreal coach Michel Therrien said. Peter Budaj stopped 20 shots for Montreal, which had won five of six. The Canadiens opened a four-game West Coast trip with their first regulation loss since Feb. 2 -- and a taste of the frustration felt by Los Angeles more frequent opponents. "We couldnt get much sustained pressure, and thats a big part of it," Montreal captain Brian Gionta said. "We got a lucky bounce on the one goal, but for the most part, we werent able to get to the net as freely as we wanted. Weve got to give them credit for that, but weve got to find ways to break through." Montreal put goalie Carey Price on injured reserve with an apparent groin injury before the game, eight days after he posted a shutout in Canadas gold medal-winning victory over Sweden in Sochi. Budaj has started every game since the break, but Price might be able to play in Wednesdays game at NHL-leading Anaheim. Although Los Angeles dominated possession early, the Canadiens tied it late in the period when Quick blocked Subbans long shot, and the puck ricocheted off Jarret Stoll and into Quicks net. Carter put the Kings back ahead early in the second period, putting Anze Kopitars pass into the top corner of Budajs net with a slick wrist shot for his 22nd goal of the season. "The first 10 minutes, they certainly were coming fast, and we didnt have an answer for it," Montreal forward Brendan Gallagher said. "At the end, we had our chances and started to create stuff, but they are a good defensive team and they dont give up a lot." Dwyers goal was the first by a forward in 564 minutes for Sporting (1-1-1), a streak dating to last years Eastern Conference semifinals.
